7/28/10

John, Pat, and I are meeting tonight at 1800 h to look at another potential shop. It is right down the road, literally, from AUTOCOMP. It is also right around the corner from British Auto Specialists. I'm not sure whether either of those shops being near by will be a boon or a hindrance. Of course the other fly in the ointment is: mom likes the location of the little shop “next to” the house. I guess I shouldn't say “next to” because I have made reference to building one literally “next to” the house in the past. Of course I'm referring to the one on Hwy 80 two miles from the house. She really perked up when I wondered aloud again as to whether the guy would sell it to me. Hmm, if I owned it I could build additional shop space for Pat on that wasted space lot. For that matter, I could build a few extra “out buildings” and rent them to... well, others. I'm thinking Jeff the Toyota guy, maybe Gregg, perhaps Larry Shuttlebus, and... well, that’s all I can think of. This could conceivably work. If we made the office and left hand bay a “community access” zone with the machine shop equipment, bathroom, and “Standing Around Looking at Shit” (SALS) areas available to everyone, then John and I could use the existing addition while the others would have their own individual bays. I don't hate this idea. Thing is, do I really want to become a “slum lord?” I think the answer is, “Probably not, but what the hell?” Well, I've just been informed that the new projectors I've been waiting on have arrived. I'd better get on that. I may be back later. And I'm back. The more I think about being a “slum lord” for my degenerate friends, the more I like the idea. I would probably have to spring for HVAC in the SALS area, but that would benefit me as well. And hey, if it is my building and I'm paying for it, why not continue that HVAC out to my shop? I mean, it’s only money right? I need to discuss this some more with others. I'll get back to you on this one.
