2/9/11

Frerbrurary 9, 2011 - And it snowed again. It went from pleasantly cool yesterday to butt-assed butt butt cold again today. And it snowed. It isn't supposed to get above freezing until Friday either. Oh well, it could be worse I suppose. Anyhoo, there is a Chump Car Grand Prix race at Eagle’s Canyon this weekend. I was excited about going to see it when it was weeks away. Now, not so much. I think I'm going to ask John if he’d rather do that or go to the shop Saturday. I'm beginning to think I'd rather go to the shop. Here we go, I'm sending him a text right now. Well, as soon as I finish typing this sentence. And now we wait for his answer. By the way, did you know that it isn’t “...with baited breath” but “...with BATED breath”? I did not until I had occasion to look up the term “egg-corn” which is the substitution of a more familiar homonym in a phrase when one is unfamiliar with the original. Baited/bated being one, “card shark” for the correct “card sharp” being another. I'd go on but I can't remember any others at the moment. I'm sure I do it all the time. But I digress. Yeah, I think I'd rather go to the shop and finger out what’s up with Lil' Wiggly. Ooh, there’s one right there! “Finger out” instead of “figure out.” Of course I'm doing it as a “bit.” OK, moving on. Does anyone remember that show, “Movin’ On”? No? “Big wheels a rollin’... gotta keep ‘em goin’... big wheels a rollin’ Movin’ on!” Still nothing? Hmm. OK. Just wondering. It was one of the 18 wheeler/CB radio craze TV shows from the seventies. Two dudes in a big-rig running around solving crimes... or something like that. I don't remember plots, just that they had a sweet green truck. Big old conventional Kenworth, I believe. Then again, it might have been a cab-over. No, I think it was a conventional. I suppose I could look it up, but I'm far too lazy for that. I believe the lead actor was Hoyt... somebody. Aw hell, hang on. And I was not as correct as I could have been. The lead actor was Claude Akins as Sonny Pruett, the grizzled old trucker trying to make payments on his rig. His side kick was Frank Converse as Will Chandler, the college boy. That’s all IMDb had on the show as well. Don't bother looking for it on DVD or anything, it probably wasn't that good to begin with. Well, I still haven’t heard from John about Saturday. I'll ask again when I send this off to him later. Well feh. I think I'm just about done for the day. Yeah, that’s it for me. Maybe I'll have something to say tomorrow.
