I had a “Questioning My Sanity” experience earlier this week. I went to the cabinet to get a projector for someone and noticed that one of them was missing. “Now where did I take that projector?” I began asking myself. I grabbed another projector for the current meeting and kept mentally retracing my steps for the last few days. I could not place where I'd left the other one. I went back to my office and checked my e-mails to see where I'd taken the thing. Nothing unaccounted for. I guessed that maybe I hadn't gone to pick it up at the last place and went back to check. Nope, she confirmed that I'd grabbed it last Friday. I wracked my brain the rest of the day trying to think where I'd taken it. I stood outside the doors to the OOB and thought, “Did I take it to someone’s desk?” I didn't remember doing that but it was a possibility. I dismissed it because I really didn't think I'd been in that building in a while. I stood at the door to the courtyard across which Juan must walk to get to the AOB and thought, “No, I haven’t been over there in weeks. I'm sure that’s not where it is.” I thought about the possibility of having taken it across the street to the TOB. I considered asking Larry if he remembered me hauling a bag over there. But I was certain that wasn't the case either and didn't bother him with it. No, I was sure it must be in the Marketing Building somewhere... or one of the meeting rooms in the NOC. I tried to look into the NOC rooms but there were people in them all. I looked in all the MOB meeting rooms but didn't find it. It was beginning to wonder, “What the fuck?” eventually I gave up and went home for the day. The whole way home I was like, “Where the hell did I take that thing?” All evening I was like, “Where the hell did I take that thing?” As I went to bed I was like, “Where the hell did I take that thing?” Then, when I woke up the next morning I remembered! I remembered that I had no idea where I'd left the thing and was like, “Where the hell did I take that thing?” All the way in to work I was like, “Where the hell did I take that thing?” I could not finger it out. When I got to work I decided to take a look in the cabinet one more time, just in case. Yep, you guessed it. It was there, right where it was supposed to be. I asked the admin across the hall if she’d loaned it to someone and she said, “Oh yeah. Robin said you told her to grab one from the cabinet. She returned it first thing this morning.” I thanked her and went looking for Robin. She got a kick out of it driving me crazy and threatened to do it again, for a laugh. Ha ha. So, there you have it. A tale which involves nothing to do with cars, guns, shops, or anything I usually rant about. John and I will be going to Glen Rose to pick up mom’s dining table and chairs. We may swap his carburetor after that but I wouldn't hold my breath for that operation to happen this weekend. We'll see.
