3/11/2011

We had planned to go to Oklahomo on a “Junkyard Crawl” tomorrow. Things have come up though and we won't be doing that after all. “Then why did you mention it?” you ask. Because, shut up! It’s my blog. That’s why. So, John and I will be meeting at Mimi’s again for breakfast, going to Lowe’s, and then to the shop. I think the plan, as far as my stuff goes, is to yank the engine and cross member back out of Nadine and roll her out so we can get Lil' Wiggly inside. I'll then probably get started pulling the A-14 out of there and cleaning up under the hood. I think John has plans to install a... hmm, I'm not sure if it is public knowledge. Never mind. He will be working on something I'm sure. I guess I'll need to drive Fifi so we can pick up an L-series from Marty Smith for Lil' Wiggly. That car is going to be another Chickenhawk when all is said and done. I don't mean it will be as fast as the Chickenhawk, that car was just stupid fast, but it will be a spartan hot rod, for sure. Hell, if it is quicker than Ms. Clio, I'll be happy. Psh, what am I saying? I'll be happy however quick it is. It is fun as hell with the tired-ass lame-duck motor in there now. So, John found a cool Weber DCOE to DGV adapter on Craig’s List the other day. I tried to finger out how to buy it but... well, you know me and technology. When it wasn't obvious or easy, I said, “Fuck it.” So I guess I'm going to go with a plain old 32/36 DGV on a stock manifold. Meh, what are you going to do? I'm going to take a nap until Ryan calls about going to lunch. Well, he called and we ate. Now I'm just running out the clock. Damn, I thought of something to tell y'all earlier but now I don't remember what it was. I wonder if it had to do with the gun show this weekend. Probably not, but it is a good segue way into that conversation. There is a gun show this weekend. Larry and I will go on Sunday to check it out, as we are wont to do. Here’s what I'm looking for this time: that Ruger 10/22 with the “silver” laminated Mannlicher full length stock I passed up last show. I'm sure I've seen it at shows before so I'm hoping it will be back again. Of course, if it is there, I'm going to have to bum the money from Larry until I get paid again on Tuesday. If it were something I know for a fact I've seen a bunch of times, I would gamble and wait until the next show when I have my own money. But chances are we won't even see the thing this time and the whole thing will be moo. Oh, I need to talk to Pat and get that PT-111 Millennium 9mm back from him. I might drag that along to the show and see what someone would be willing to pay for it. Would I split the profit with Pat? Eventually... probably... once he found out about it. Hmm, maybe I ort to bring Slick Willie out and try to unload it on someone. Not “in” someone, “ON” someone. Perhaps a better verb should have been used in that sentence. I'm not going back to “fix” it though. Obviously. I think I'll offer Pixie to John since he showed interest in it at one time. Hang on, let me go check what PX-4 Storm pistols are selling for nowadays. OK, looks like the going price is in the $500.00 range. Of course I wouldn't ask full price from John. I'm sure we’ll discuss it tomorrow. I guess I ort to bring that with me to the shop. Oh! I just remembered the story I was going to tell! OK, so Wednesday evening I gave my cat the last of the kitty treats we had on hand. Yesterday I set an alarm to tell me to stop at Wal Mart on the way home to buy more. As I'm walking through the Garden Center, that being the closest door to the pet supplies area of the store thus avoiding the majority of Wal Mart shoppers, I thought, “I’ll swing by sporting goods and see what they have by way of .410 ammo.” This I did. As I approached the counter, I was accosted by the sales dude. I told him I needed .410 shells and he opened the case to see what they had. It didn't look good. All I could see in the case were bird shot and slugs. Then I looked at the case next to the one he was in and saw the Federal 000 buckshot Handgun rounds. I likes me some of them 000 buckshot rounds! I guided him to the correct location and had him give me two, forty-round boxes at $12.49 each. I headed to the pet food area now for the kitty treats. As I was rounding up a nice selection of flavors, I realized that my purchases this day might raise a few eyebrows. I shrugged it off and headed to the register, back in the garden center, of course. No one challenged me on the suspicious purchases so I went home. I'm probably on some PETA database now due to (tee hee, I said doo doo) that purchase. Oh well, what are you going to do?
