Well, I'm not doing so well with keeping rants coming, am I? And since I didn't really do anything this weekend, this week probably won't be any better. Of course if I can scratch out seven lines of stuff, I'll surpass the only other rant this month. So, here’s what happened over the weekend. Friday evening when I got home, mom suggested we go to Two Brother’s Bistro for the shrimp bisque. I thought that was a dandy idea and agreed even thought it meant driving all the way across town, right back the way I'd just come home from work. She called her sister to see if they wanted to join us and they did. Fortunately, sort of, this meant they would drive. I say “sort of” because Uncle Jim is 80ish but still drives like... well, me. It was a bit scary at times. Mom made them agree that we were paying, which is a big deal with old folks for some reason, so I handed her my $50.00 gift certificate to use. The food was as good as ever. Hmm, I may have to go there for lunch some day this week. I spent Saturday running around with mom. Oh, first I need to back up just a bit. I got a call from the landlord at the shop the other day. I hate getting calls from them, especially right at the beginning of the month because it usually isn't good news for me. Either they are raising my rent or my payment bounced or something else bad has happened. Anyhoo, I answer the phone and talk to the lady. Apparently a cat had somehow gotten locked in the shop. I'm pretty sure it didn't go in while I was there, but that’s beside the point. It was in there and another tenant heard it yowling. She was calling to tell me they were going to let it out and to let me know that there might be poop and/or pee on stuff. I did a quick inventory in my head and decided that there wasn't anything that could really be damaged by cat excreta and told her that, being a cat guy, I didn't mind. I tried to put it out of my mind but kept thinking about the poor thing locked in there for the last few days. So, Saturday morning mom and I are going to Lowe’s to look at some stuff and... um, some other places, for somethings. I don't really remember it all. I mentioned the cat incident and that I wanted to go check on the shop at some time Saturday. She suggested we go do that then run our errands. We did. I looked around the shop and all I could see were a few dusty kitty footprints on the comfy chair. I'd like to think it slept there to stay semi warm and stuff. I couldn't smell anything amiss, or even a mister, and saw no evidence of damage. I tried to reinstall the fan in the “paint booth” but it fell out immediately. I'm sure that is how it got in. I locked up then mom and I went on about our business. Oh, now I remember, we went to the credit onion downtown to talk to our loan lady about stuff and then had lunch at a little place on Magnolia Boulevard. It is a little bistro type place in one of the old buildings a block or two east of Benito’s. T’was quite tasty. After lunch we went to Lowe’s and then home. I wasted a few hours on the intergoogles, you know twitting on the FacePlace, that sort of thing, then took a nap. When I awoke, I decided I wanted to give Elk Castle one more chance for my business. I had bought some Sellier & Bellot 7.62x39 ammo since they wouldn't allow me to shoot the Wolf ammo I had the last time I tried to use their range. I loaded up the Saiga and the two thirty-round magazines full of the S&B rounds into the metal carrying case and headed out. I decided that I'd take one bullet in and see if they would allow it before hauling the whole kit in. yep, you guessed it. They didn't like the S&B ammo either. I flipped them the bird as I walked out the door for the last time and went for a hoon in Ms. Clio. The hoon calmed me down and I wasted the rest of the evening, as I am wont to do. Well, I guess I managed to come up with a totally boring bit of fluff to fill a page today. I'll have Sunday’s tale tomorrow. Toodles.
