Well, the spacers did not arrive Friday after all. Now relax, they did arrive Saturday but that is getting ahead of the story. So, since we didn’t have the spacers for Saturday at the shop, I asked John if we were still going. He wanted to so it was agreed that I'd pick him up after checking the phone in the War Room Saturday morning. We went back to the same breakfast place as last week and discussed whether or not we were going to the shop. “Is there a gun show or swap meet this weekend?” John asked. I informed him that there was, in fact, a gun show about to start at Will Rogers. We went there. I wasn’t really shopping for anything but knew I'd know it when I found it. I found it. There was the exact AR-15 clone I would buy were I buying an AR-15 clone. It was a Smith & Wesson M&P with the triangular fore end and butt stock like a Viet Nam era M-16. It was quite cool. It was $795.00 though. Now, for some reason AR prices either have come down some, I'm noticing the lower priced ones finally, or I'm not as jaded about $600.00 to $800.00 for a gun. I thought those eight bills seemed like a reasonable price for that gun. I didn’t have it, but it seemed reasonable. All the rest of the show I kept thinking about that gun. We went back and looked at it again. I really wanted it by the time we left. I checked my account balances and saw that I really couldn’t afford it anyway and we moved on. We went to Academy to look at their guns. John, by the way, saw a few pistols at the show I think he was interested in and therefore wanted to see what Academy had. I wanted to see what ARs were going for. Academy had a composite lower and upper AR-15 clone, Bushmaster I believe, for $699.00 with some sort of optic already installed. It was quite lightweight and very cool. I wanted it too once I handled it. But then I remembered that I don’t want an AR-15, I want THAT AR-15 at the show. Besides, I couldn’t really afford the one at Academy either. They didn’t have the gun John was looking for, an Israeli Weapons Inc. Jericho, or “Baby Eagle.” They did have the CZ pistol that the Jericho is copied from though, the CZ-75. It was really cool. I really like the de-cocker it had. Anyhoo, we both decided against buying anything then and left. We went to Bloodbath & Beyond. There I looked at their “cheapest” AR clone, at $649.95 or something, but had him put it away before I did anything stupid. I had to keep telling myself, “I don’t want an AR; I want THAT AR at the show.” We left. From BB&B we found a sushi place at Beach and Western Center and had lunch. It. Was. Awesome! I'm going back. Hmm, I wonder what John is doing for lunch today. No, I otter eat with the guys here at work. Anyhoo, after having bait for lunch, and ogling the really cute waitress, I took him home and went on my merry way. When I got home, I found Fiona's wheel spacers on the front porch. I unpacked and grokked them. They are quite nice. I debated going to the shop but took a quick nap instead. Around 1600 h I did head to the shop with them. They installed in about half an hour, maybe less, and I stepped back to have a look. Oh yeah, that is the thing about which I am talking. The tires just barely peek out from the lip of the fender. They are quite aggressive but not ghetto looking. I tried to send John a picture but don’t know if I was successful. Besides, the picture I took was before settling the suspension so it didn’t look like it does now that I've driven them a bit. I hooned back to the house listening for scrapes or rubbing. They did neither. Ok, I've already written tomorrow’s entry but it made today’s way too long. I'll shoost it off to Spiderman tomorrow evening so he can post it up.
