So I get a call from one of the telecom guys this morning saying that the phone in the War Room isn’t working. When I arrive to have a look at it, it appears as though the control system has locked up. Sure enough, rebooting it solves the problem… well, that part of the problem. A new problem has been placed on me though. Now I have to come in every morning and make sure that system is functioning before 0730 h. Ok, that’s not that big a deal. Sure it means I now have to actually drag my lazy ass in every morning before 0730 h, but that’s really not that great an issue. What is an issue is that they have this meeting six days a week. I am going to have to come in to work every Saturday morning before 0730 h for the next three weeks. See, we’re in what is called “Peak Season” due to (tee hee, I said "doo doo!") Christmas shipping and stuff. After the New Year starts I'll just have to “Check it on my way out Friday evening” and hope they don’t call me Saturday morning. Meh, at least I'll be getting four hours of overtime those weeks. As for the extra two and a half hours a week because of the extra half an hour each morning, psh, I waste enough time in a day that I can eat that time. Hell, I've probably already come in late and/or left early enough times to absorb a couple months of early mornings. Ok, maybe not months, weeks for sure. Let’s see, thirty minutes a day, five days a week, for four weeks comes to… ten hours a month. Yeah, I've probably wasted at least a month’s worth of those extra hours in the last ten years so I'm not going to say anything about them. In fact, I think I'll go ahead and earn some of that extra time now. I'm going to take a quick nap. Ok, I'm back but since it is now 1635 h I'm calling it a day. I'll talk to y'all again Monday.
