So to continue the narrative from yesterday, Sunday morning I waited for Larry to call and then met him at the credit onion to go back to the gun show. I brought along the Space Gun. I wanted some flip-up caps for the optics I have on there because keeping up with the removable caps is a pain in the ass. I also thought I'd allow someone to buy it if the price was right. I figured you couldn’t reproduce the package I was offering (the gun, eight magazines, the optics, ambidextrous charging handles, LOP extensions, sling, and 118 rounds of +P ammo) for less than $1,200.00 so that was my number. I knew I wouldn’t get it but I didn’t really WANT to sell it. I slung it over my shoulder and we walked the show. “My” AR was still there. They asked about the Space Gun but flinched at my price. Other folks who asked about it thought it was reasonable but didn’t come up with the cash. I asked around at every accessory table until I finally found a pair of flip-up caps which almost fit. I was sure I could make them work so I bought them. Psh, they were $10.00 so even if I throw them away I'm not out a lot. By the time we had walked the whole show, I was tired of the gun hanging off my shoulder. We went back to Larry's truck and put it away in its case. Then we went to lunch. We decided to try In-N-Out Burger. Yeah, fuck that. The place was packed. Oh, there wasn’t a line around the building like last time, but it was obvious from the parking lot that there wouldn’t have been a place to sit. We went to Dairy Queen instead. I don’t see how the Up-Ur-Butt Burger could be any better… and Dairy Queen has Dipped Cones! Back at the gun show we walked the aisles again and looked at everything once more. “My” AR was still, still there. Oh, by the way, they refused to trade the Space Gun straight up for it as well. Probably for the best. After we looked at everything again, and a few things more than once, we were back at the table with “my” AR. It was the last AR they had. I joked that I was the only person interested in that gun and they finally said, “Make us an offer.” Knowing I didn’t have the money, I declined and we walked again. I said I'd reconsider at the next show in two weeks. We walked some more and I finally weakened. I told Larry that I'd offer them $700.00 for it and put it on my credit card if they went for it. I was pretty sure they wouldn’t so I fingered it was a safe bet. As we walked up, there was a dude filling out the paperwork to buy it. I feigned being upset and said to the guys selling it, “Dude! What the hell? You’re selling my gun!” We all laughed and they pointed out the “snooze you lose” aspect of gun shows. I was actually cool with it because I really don’t need to go off into that whole world of expensive crap. We found a dude selling a couple Red Dot optics for $50.00 each and considered them. Larry decided that if he could find a side mount thingy for his Saigas, he’d buy one or the other. We went to look for the mount. He found one at the dude who sells all kinds of AK related gear and he bought it. He also bought a bunch of magazines from the guy so he threw in an AK poster. Larry already had one so he gave it to me. We then went back and bought both optics from the other guy. Larry's is a 1x, or no magnification, while mine is a 2x, or two times magnification. I'm not sure why I did it, but the price was pretty good. At the house, I put the flip-up caps on the Space Gun's optics and the new optics on the Neos Carbine. I'll use the optics I took off of the carbine on the Neos Pistol, I think. And that gets everyone caught up on my weekend.
