Frerbruraryr 1, 2012

Yesterday on the shuttle, Larry and I saw a metallic green Fiesta and I commented that it was yellower than the metallic green I like. I like the metallic green that mid-seventies Mercury Capris were painted. I had a ’76 Capri in Neon Dick Green when I was in high school. I looked for a picture on them intergoogles and found one, believe it or not. However when I tried to send it to John, the link didn’t work. He found a different picture of a metallic green Capri and asked if it was the color I meant. It was, but that picture tinted it more to the yellow end than the picture I found. But that’s splitting hairs, I suppose. Suffices to say, I want a metallic green mid-seventies Capri now. John found an early model V6 in red on Craig’s List but I said I'd wait for the one I want, the aforementioned mid-seventies metallic green model. I think I'd prefer this one to be a V6 this time. Although, there are quite a few hot rod bits available for the venerable 2300 four banger. Ooh, the turbo motor from a Thunderchicken Turbo Coupe or Mustang SVO would be super-hot in a Capri. Of course I have that two liter Zetec engine sitting in Marty Smith’s shop, unless he’s given it away. A Miata five speed behind that engine in a Capri would be pretty nice. Hmm, think to come of it, a Miata five speed behind that engine would be pretty sweet in the Spit’ as well. Hmm. No! No no no no! If I'm keeping the Spit’ I think I'm decided on an A-12 with the five-speed from the B-310 we just rescued. Ok, I'm going to stop this line of thinking now. If a metallic green mid-seventies Capri avails itself to me, for a stupid low price, like less than $250.00 sort of thing, I'll consider it. Otherwise, I'm moving on with the cars I have. Is that last sentence a fragment? Hmm, doesn’t appear to be. Well, how about that? Anyhoo, there’s that going on. Well well well. I just went to a meeting with the individual who asked for the log of my hours. Apparently I annoyed a Veep by, get this, being in the cafeteria every time they were. They said to someone, something to the effect of, “Every time I'm in the cafeteria getting lunch, the A/V guy (they may have called me by name, I don’t know) is sitting there.” Hmm, think it might be possible I go to lunch at the same time every day, same as you? No, just jump right to “HE MUST BE GOOFING OFF! FIND OUT WHAT HE DOES HERE EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY! GRRR! I’M A BIG POWERFUL EXECUTIVE! GRRR!” I'm going to stop short of calling anyone names… especially since I don’t even know who it was. So, in my meeting I ‘splained that I go to lunch with Larry the shuttle bus driver every day from 1200 h to 1230 h. At some point during that lunch, Dennis from desktop support usually shows up and I finish my hour with him. I said that, on occasion, if Dennis shows up at 1230 h, I will wait his full hour and not leave until 1330 h rather than 1300 h like I should. But I'm rarely there more than an hour, and never more than an hour and a half. Now, I did admit to wasting time on the shuttle, but justified it by pointing out that on the shuttle I am five to ten minutes from anywhere on campus. It can take up to half an hour to get from my desk to the large conference room in the TOB. I, personally, think customer support is more important than “busy work.” But then, who am I to say? Suffices to say, I'm not as stressed out about making “Sitting at my desk waiting for emergency phone calls” sound productive. Oh sure, I'm going to try and keep those entries to a minimum, but I'm not going to stress out about it like I had been. Well, I guess I'm just about done talking to y'all today… no wait! John sent me a picture of a blue Pinto he passed on the road today. I replied, “Damn it! Now I want a metallic green Capri AND a Pinto!” Ok, so if I cull the current herd to The Seven and the Chickenhawk, then add a Capri and a Pinto…
