I sent an e-mail to those “Sons of Guns” folks from the TV asking about making
a suppressor for my Beretta CX-4 Storm carbine.
I included a drawing to hopefully give them some idea about my plan. Basically, I was thinking that if the barrel
were drilled to vent the sound pressure into a shroud surrounding it, filled
with sound absorption material or baffles of some sort, it otter work as a
suppressor. I haven’t heard back from
them yet. I probably won't either. Not that it matters all that much because I'm
thinking of taking the gun with me tomorrow to the gun show and trying to sell
it. Of course if I did sell it, they
would reply back saying it was possible, and that the show’s producer would pay
for it because it would make such compelling television. Hmm, then again, if I didn’t sell it they
would either never reply, say that it wouldn’t work, or say that it would but
the cost would be prohibitive. At a
minimum it would cost me the $200.00 tax stamp for a suppressor/suppressed
weapon from the BATFE. I can see them,
Red Jacket Firearms, charging at least $500.00 to $1,000.00 for the job on top
of that. I guess I otter forget about it
and try to sell the thing. Yeah, that is
what I'll probably do. Of course, if I
did sell it tomorrow, I would find something at the show “I couldn’t live
without,” that being an SKS moist likely.
Yes, I'm still thinking that buying an SKS to justify those stripper
clips is a good idea… well, maybe not a “good” idea, but a reasonable one. Besides, an SKS with a Fiberforce Dragunov
stock looks really cool. The only way I
can afford to buy one is by selling the Storm… which would also free up a spot
in the gun cabinet for it. Win/win. Yeah, I'm dumb. I know.
Well, today was the Native American Heritage Day event at the railroad…
out in the courtyard between the Marketing Building and the NOC. Yeah, June 22nd in the
courtyard. It was hot as fuck. I was on my feet from 0830 h to 1430 h out
there. I've been at my desk with my
shoes off for the last few hours and I think I'm ready to call it a day. Well, I'll go hang out with Larry in the
shuttle for the next hour and a half or so… but I ain’t coming back up to my
office! That’s for damn sure!
