8/30/12
Well, this year’s Birkinstock, or Southwest Sevens
Festival as it is officially called, has been cancelled. Apparently too many of us were too deadbeat
to officially commit and pay up so they put the kibosh on it for the time
being. I want to be more upset about it…
but to tell the truth, I'm a little relieved.
Yes, I did burn two vacation days for the Friday and Monday of that
weekend, and I did blow $300.00 on new safety gear… but I really wasn’t all that
excited about the event. I sent Tony an
e-mail asking if he wanted to do something that weekend since I think he
already has the kitchen pass and stuff.
I haven’t heard back yet so… we’ll see.
This does free me up for BNSF Family Day though. I won't have to drive The Seven from the
Motorsport Ranch to attend the car show here now. I may actually wash the thing for the show
this year. I told the guy in charge of
the BNSF event that I'm thinking about painting the car for this event. John did a photochop with the hood and
scuttle painted black and I really like it.
It has an Orca vibe to it… but again, I like it. I need to find out the status of the selling
and buying of carburetors for Lil' Wiggly so I know what project to think about
for this weekend. Here’s what I'm
thinking right now: if the carburetor is not here tomorrow, which I highly
doubt, I'll drive The Seven to the shop Saturday with the intention of pulling
the hood and scuttle for paint. While
the windshield is off, I'll probably re-rivet the snaps for the tonneau cover,
adding the missing ones while I'm at it.
See, when I replaced the scuttle a few years ago in order to put on a
full windshield, I had to install new tonneau snaps. I could only get the drill in to about half
of the locations though with the glass in place. Ok, I just spoke to John and we won't be
painting The Seven for BNSF Family day after all. Well, I've got to go do some actual work and
stuff so I'm going to call it a short rant today. Toodles.
