Damn it! Now I want an AMC Gremlin. Ok, so I was perusing Wikipedia this
morning. I started off reading about the
Lotus Elise. That led me to the Lotus
Exige page, of course. From there I read
about the Hennessy Venom which is an extended Exige chassis with a GM lump out
back in place of the Toyota mill. A link
on that page sent me to “Sportscars” which somehow morphed me onto the “Coupé”
page. On the “Coupé” page was a bit
about the AMC Matador Coupé so I clicked that link. I read all about the AMC Matador which
supplied a link to the AMC Pacer page.
After reading about the Pacer, I wondered what the timeline was between
the Pacer and the Gremlin. I went to the
AMC Gremlin page and discovered that the Gremlin came first, 1970, whereas the
Pacer came out in 1975. They “sold”
concurrently from ’75-’78 when the Gremlin was discontinued while the Pacer
soldiered on until 1980. Anyhoo, while
reading about the Gremlin, I decided I want one. Of course if it came down to a Ford Pinto or
an AMC Gremlin, I'd have to go with the Pinto.
I've almost always wanted a Pinto.
Ok, I have pretty much always wanted a Pinto. Ok, I've always wanted a Pinto… there, I said
it. Happy now? But back to the Gremlin… uh, well I guess all
there is to say is, “I want a Gremlin.”
No, I'm not going to go searching for a Gremlin to add to the
fleet. But if one were to come along at
the right price… Anyhoo, so there’s that
going on. Did I mention the Pinto wagon
John saw recently? It was at one of the
shop complexes he and I looked at some time back. One of the shops in the complex had it for
sale. I stopped by to ask about it. Yeah, it was a bit too spendy for me at the
time. Of course what I REALLY want is
another straight-six, three-on-the-tree van.
Why oh why did I ever give Mr. Wiggly away? “Because you’re a dumbass?” Oh right, that’s it. Well, great paté mom, but I gotta motor if
I'm going to make this funeral.
Quick! Name that movie! Anyone?
How about, “Ugh, if I have to sing ‘Kumbaya’ one more time…”? Still nothing? Ok, this one will be the giveaway, “I LOVE MY
DEAD GAY SON!” Yes, it was “Heathers.” Well, that’s about all I've got for y'all
today. Be happy you got THAT much!
