So I got tired of looking at my old broke-ass Blackberry today. Unfortunately I'm still several months away
from being able to “upgrade” with AT&T.
I use quotes because I'm seriously considering going back to a “dumb
phone” and dropping all data service from my plan. Unfortunately that means anyone on my plan
with a smart phone is going to have to jump ship to his or her own plan if/when
this goes into effect… John, I'm looking in your direction. I'm sure I'll get a phone call as soon as he
reads that! Anyhoo, I got tired of
looking at the old broke-ass Dingleberry earlier and asked one of the
technology dudes here at the railroad if there were any old Dingleberries which
were en route to the scrap heap but were in better shape than the one I had. He said that he had one at his desk. He just hooked me up and I'm as happy as a
little girl! Since I do like Dingleberry
smart phones so much, I might not “upgrade” next
summer/fall/whenever-I’m-eligible. We’ll
see. In fact, if I can ever remember
what my AOHell password is, I might set it up so that e-mail gets routed to the
Dingleberry… and I may not. There are
two old e-mail account thingies on the desktop of this unit but neither one
will send a message right now. I wonder
if John knows how to reactivate them.
Yeah, he probably does, being all techno like he is. Perhaps I'll axed him to have a look at it
Saturday. Then again, I might not. So, what else is there to say? Oh, I checked the progress of my Summit order
and it was on a truck, out for delivery, at 0530 h this morning! UPS rules!
I remember back in junior high… ok, it was high school to be honest,
ordering a model airplane kit from a catalog.
It must have taken a month from when I dropped the check in the mail to
the kit arriving at my dorm’s post office box.
Fine, I was in college!
Happy? Anyhoo, the point is, I
placed this order Tuesday EVENING after 1700 h and it is probably sitting on my
porch right now, Thursday! And that was
the free ground shipping option! That is
friggin’ amazing if you axed me. So, we
will be able to dress the 302 out a little more Saturday if I don’t feel like
messing with the fuel cell after all. Of
course I really do need to get cracking on that fuel cell eventually. And of course I've also got to finish the
wiring so… I don’t know, we’ll see. I
think the thing that has me the most concerned is setting up that hydraulic
throw out bearing. Tony put one on his
Seven and said it wasn’t too big a pain in the ass, but I'm still a bit skeert…
afeared even. Well, we’ll burn that
bridge when we come to it, I guess. Feh,
this isn’t doing it for me right now. I
think I'm going to call it a rant and go play solitaire until the tech shows up
to help reinstall this projector. Yeah,
that is exactly what I'm going to do.
