1/7/14

I have babysitting duty (tee hee, I said "doody!") today.  There is a crew installing new video conferencing equipment in one of the NOC meeting rooms.  Neither guy has a badge so they need me to stay with them.  I brought the laptop today so I could talk to y'all.  Of course I'm just now getting started at 1525 h.  I might be a bit disjointed since I'm just trying to look busy and not really thinking about what I'm saying.  I really want to bitch about my job but there is a Telecom person sitting here next to me and I don’t really want her to read what I have to say.  Perhaps tomorrow.  One of the installers popped up some music on his laptop earlier.  Within three notes I was like, “Oh yeah!  Oingo Boingo!”  I heard songs I haven’t heard in twenty years.  I think I might be spending some money on the i-Tunes tonight.  Of course I might forget by the time I get home.  Juan never knows with me.  Oh great, there are more Telecom folks coming.  I had to shut down for a bit but now I'm back.  This room is going to look like hammered dog crap.  The cameras for the teleconferencing system stick out into the room ten inches at about shoulder level.  Someone is going to knock the shit out of them.  I guarantee it.  I've tried several times to alert folks to the fact that it is going to be an issue.  The Telecom folks have given final approval so I wash my hands of the thing.  When it gets fucked up, it won't be on my head… especially if I ain't here no more!  I'm not planning to quit anytime soon but I am becoming obsolete at this job so a preemptive strike might not be a bad idea.  Go out on a high note, as it were.  Or not, we’ll see.  Ok, the dude with the music has some eighties music disc going and Wham! is playing.  “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” is playing right now.  The worst song EVER was playing earlier: “We Built This City” by Starship.  The only thing that would make “WBTC” worse would be if U2 were to perform it.  I really hate U2.  Oh crap, I just had a horrible thought.  I sure hope there is no U2 on this compilation.  I think, if there is, that will be when I go back to my desk to retrieve my coat for the day.  Of course, now that it is 1600 h, I probably otter go do that anyway.  Lettuce see what the next song is before I go.  And the “winner” is… Billy Ocean’s “Loverboy.”  Ok, I guess I'll go get my coat now.  I think I'm going to call it a rant as well and take my monitor back up.  So… yeah.  Have a day.
