Looks like we’ve shifted to a weekly update in the rant. Hmm, I don’t really have anything to say
though. Oh, there was a gun show over
the weekend. Larry and I went on
Sunday. I took the Kel Tec Sub2000 with
me to see if I could sell it. Larry
asked what my bottom dollar was so that he could keep me from screwing myself
too badly. I said “$750.00” I
believe. We walked the whole event and I
showed it to several people. Many were
interested but none plopped down any cash.
Finally, about two rows from the end, a guy grokked it really
seriously. He said he’d come find me on
the last few rows if he decided to buy.
I said I’d swing back by to check back with him once we’d finished
walking. When we had finished walking
the rows, we went to the truck to get the rest of the stuff I was selling with
the gun and I sought the guy out. He
wound up haggling me down to $725.00 but all he had in his kitty was $400.00 or
so. He went to the ATM to get the
balance… or at least attempted to do so.
He came back with a sob story of a car payment going through. I believed him and took a “Spam Can” of
5.45x39 and 50 rounds of .45 Colt to make up the difference. I then sold the “Spam Can” to Larry, erasing
the last of my debt to him in the process, and went looking for the bullpup 870
stock I have been lusting after for the last several shows. The first place didn’t have any so I went to
another. It was more expensive either
the first place’s quote at a previous show and MUCH more expensive than
ordering one online. I went ahead and
paid the “Instant Gratification Tax” and bought the thing. I wound up coming home with the bit I went
shopping for originally PLUS enough cash to get me through to payday! I’d say it was a successful gun show. At the house I tucked in to installing the
870 into the bullpup stock. It went
really well, took about half an hour I’d say.
And the gun is so friggin’ cool now!
I had to give up the “Side Saddle” shell holder thing which left six
rounds of low-brass #8 birdshot rattling about.
I decided, “Fuck it, I’ll load the damned gun’s magazine.” Then I got to thinking that it would make
more sense to load this gun with buckshot and put the six rounds of birdshot in
the cuff of the Boomstick. That gun will
be a handful with low-brass birdshot, buck would have been ridiculous! So, that is what I did, I loaded the six
rounds of Fiocchi 000 Buck from the Boomstick into the 870’s magazine and the
six rounds of low-brass #8 birdshot from the 870 into the Boomstick’s
cuff. The 870’s chamber is still empty,
but pick the thing up and “Shuck-SHUCK!” you’re ready to rock and roll. I think I’m happy with that. So, I guess that is all I have to say for
this week. I’ll have more to report next
week since we’re back to the shop this Saturday. Toodles.
