Well, the Chickenhawk is coming along well. John is knocking the hell out of fixing and
filling dents. I need to show my
appreciation better for all of that work.
I’m trying to convince him that it doesn’t need to be perfect; a “Ten
Footer” will be fine with me. I have
relented on the color and we’re going with the original Chickenhawk scheme of
yellow over flat black. I know that
works… I am 98.725% sure yellow over purple would work… but it might not so
we’re going with the devil we know. Sort
of thing. We’re also going to go wild
with the lighting. Right now we’re
thinking the theme is going to be “Round Things.” We’re going to put round turn signal/park
lights in the grille and will use the roundel center badge. I think that is going to look “da bomb!” In the rear we’re going to go with six round
taillights which we are going to try to make sequential. We’re also going really wild with the zorst. What we’re thinking is that Monza tip is
going to point upward from the center of the beaver panel where the trunk key
used to live at the same angle as the panel’s facet. It makes sense to us, don’t worry about
it. With the key latch removed, we’re
going to put straps on to hold the trunk closed and relocate the fuel cell
forward and to the right. Of course, as
is usually the case with plans at Dimlight Racing, all of this could be moot
next time we go to the shop. I ord… John
ordered a voltage regulator for Scooby Two last Saturday. It should be coming to the shop today. This is an off weekend so I may or may not do
a solo trip to the shop to install it.
We’ll see. I took the Mosin
Nagant to the gun show Sunday to try once again to sell it. It did not.
I’m going to resign myself to that gun being my “reach out and touch
someone” gun. It makes more sense than
what I was going to replace it with anyway.
While a 5.56x45 bolt gun would be cool, especially one which uses STANAG
mags, 7.62x54R is a much better long range round. My only complaint now is that the thing takes
up three spots in the gun case. Oh well,
fortunately I wasn’t totally beholden to selling it and did have some cash
because I found a Geisele trigger pack for the Tavor! I bought the hell out of that mother
fucker! Monday, since I was off for
President’s Day, I went to the range with it.
It is very nice. The trigger is
still “heavy” enough for a defensive gun, but it is so much lighter than the
original. I tore a ragged hole about the
size of a half dollar… maybe a silver dollar, with seventy rounds from seventy
five feet. With my eyes, and 1x
magnification, that’s “good enough” in my book.
They were all within one “minute of bad guy” and would have probably all
drawn blood as head shots. On the whole,
I’m pleased with the platform. Well, I
think I’ve said enough for today. I’ll
leave you with this…
