Errmuhgerd!
What have I done? I quit my job…
my cushy, indoor, air conditioned, sit-on-my-ass-and-do-nothing,
been-here-fourteen-years job… to go sweat my ass off working on cars. Wait, I like working on cars. I hate working on/with technology. The cushy, indoor, air conditioned,
sit-on-my-ass-and-do-nothing, been-here-fourteen-years job involves working
on/with technology… and it is only going to get worse. No, my Luddite ass needs to move on. It is the right thing to do. I just hate change I guess. I am going to miss this place though. I have had it pretty good for the most
part. Hmm, I just thought of something. For the last fourteen years, I have been
saying to myself, “One of these days, they are going to figure out just how big
a fraud I am and fire me.” I guess I
beat the odds. Still, it’s weird to
think that this time next week I won’t be allowed to wander around the halls of
this place anymore. I won’t have access
to just about every secret nook and cranny.
I won’t be “Tim the A/V Guy” anymore.
It’s… I don’t know what else to say.
So I guess I’ll move on. Saturday
I took the header and muffler for Millie to the shop, seeing as how they
arrived Friday. We couldn’t test fit
anything until we removed that broken bolt from the head though. I tried to zook it some more but the nut just
twisted off. We wound up grinding it
flush and drilling it out. After picking
the broken bolt’s threads out of the hole, I ran a tap through it and we’re
golden. We test fit the header and it looks
awesome. We took the tire rack off of
the nose of the van and it looks 100% better.
We discussed painting it in a similar scheme as the Chickenhawk but I
don’t know if that was ever made the official plan. I think we decided that if we get a set of
Lincoln/Mercury turbine wheels, we’ll Chickenhawk the van’s paint. If we go with a different wheel design, we’ll
go with a different paint scheme. At
some point “Lone Star” from the Ratsun web community came by and dropped off
his 210 and a 200sx axle. John and I are
supposed to install a front bumper for him… or something like that while the
axle is for the Chickenhawk. We waited
around for Kerry to drop off a car he was supposed to be bringing but he called
and cancelled… or something. Eventually,
John and I went to Mexican Inn for lunch.
I didn’t do anything the rest of the day. Sunday mom and I went to Granbury to have
lunch with my sister. I scored a big
baggie of leftover steaks! Sunday
afternoon and evening were also a total waste.
And I’m now so bored with talking to y'all that I think I’m just going
to…
