4/23/15

Oops, I forgot to rant last week.  Sorry about that… wait, no I’m not.  Deal with it.  Anyhoo, I guess I can tell y’all about it now.  Saturday the 14th I intended to go to the gun show at 9:26 and 54 seconds so I could flirt… I mean talk to the girl at the ammo place who is into calendrical oddities right as “Pi Day” hit the even rarer “Pi Second” of 3/14/15 9:26.54… but I overslept.  Mom and I went to the Swiss Bakery for lunch then I met some friends downtown to ride a pedal-car bar thing around on a pub-crawl sort of thing.  It was fun, I suppose… if you’re into that sort of thing.  Sunday I slept in again and was awoken by Larry’s text saying he was just about ready to head to the credit onion to meet me to go to the gun show.  I got ready in record time and hauled ass downtown to meet him.  Oh, sometime during the week, my supervisor from Whitlock dropped off my Christmas Bonus Visa card thing which I promptly sold to mom.  I hate gift cards because I never get all the money off of them.  Anyhoo, the point is, going into the gun show I have a grand total of $100.00 to my name after selling her that card and going on the pub-crawl.  I wound up not doing anything really stupid, mainly because of my relative broke-assedness.  I did wind up buying… um, shit, what did I buy?  Oh, right!  I went in to get another magazine for the Bersa thunder… then for some reason bought two.  I also bought something else I didn’t actually need once all the nut-cuttin’ was done… but I can’t remember right now what it was.  Ok, I just went back through my sent text messages because I knew I’d told Larry about one of the items being superfluous.  See, one of the items I stupidly traded for my Kushnapup Saiga 12 was a .223 AR scope.  Thing is, it didn’t come with rings.  I bought rings for it… and it turns out I can’t use the scope on the Tavor after all, for various reasons.  So, we move on.  Last week was mercifully quick because… well, it sucked.  I’m not going into it though because… well, I’m just not going to go into it.  Saturday the 21st I headed to the shop thinking I was running late… I was the first to arrive.  I got to work getting the floor of the Chickenhawk ready to weld in.  John arrived as I was getting going and didn’t stop me.  I got half the driver’s floor zooked in, structurally if not totally.  I asked him if he thought I could quit with the welder since it is highly unlikely I would ever get the floor totally sealed and we were planning to glass the whole shebang anyway.  He shamed me a little into doing a bit more zookage.  I remembered that one of the things I was supposed to buy before coming back to the shop was a 4” hole saw so we could cut the lights into the grille.  We discussed going to the store but blew it off… until John realized he needed some bolts.  We went to the store and came back to attempt to drill the grille.  It went well… ish.  The lights are going to be cool as hell in there but we’re going to have to lose some of the horizontal bars of the grille.  I’m ok with that.  While trying to justify a $30.00 hole saw, I flippantly said, “We’re going to revisit the ‘Zorst through the t’ain’t panel’ idea.”  After drilling the grille, we revisited the “Zorst through the t’ain’t panel” idea.  We took measurements and decided that two 3 ¼” holes could be joined into a nice cutout for the Monza tips.  I sighed and said I really otter get back to welding the floor though.  John jumped in and said he’d zook on the floor if I wanted to cut out the t’ain’t panel.  This we did.  I made the cuts in the panel and propped the zorst tips into the hole.  It looks so friggin’ cool!  I’m pleased with that plan.  While John moved onto working on his car, I got back to work on the floor of mine.  I trimmed and bent the second piece for the driver’s floor and got cracking on chipping away the tar stuff.  We broke for lunch at the little Belgian/Mexican place around the corner and when we went back to the shop I zooked the rest of the driver’s floor in.  I feel like we accomplished quite a bit even though I don’t feel like we did all that much.  It seems like we just piddled around for a while, but when I looked back at it… day-um!  We did a lot!  Sunday the 22nd was a total waste of a day.  I intended to hoon a bit in Scooby Two, but wound up… not, doing that.  So, that’s about all I have to say.  Have a day.
