6/8/10

I guess I ought to wish my brother “Happy Birthday.” Happy birthday Ted. OK, I'll call him later and do it right. Get off my back. Sheesh! So, I didn't mention the Japanese Old School Car thing at the Purple Cow, did I? Well, Saturday, after John and I went our separate ways, I remembered that I wanted to ask him if he was willing to drive one of my cars to the event. I sent him an e-mail when I got home. I didn't hear back. I checked the e-mail a few times Saturday evening and again once or twice Sunday. I sent him a text as well but didn't hear from him that way either. So when the time came to go, I rolled The Seven out past Ms. Clio and drove to the event. Jeff was there in his... um, big-assed Toyota something-or-other, so I parked next to him. A little while later, a 1985 Toyota pickup pulled in and parked. It was pretty clean. It made me miss The Tick. The Tick was my 1984 Toyota pickup. Best. Truck. Ever. I should never have sold it. Anyhoo, we looked it over and all chatted for a while until the dude with the truck asked if I'd take him for a ride in The Seven. I did. We stopped for gas and eventually made it back to find a Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo sitting there. It was way cool. The couple driving it had been to another event in an MR-2 before. John might remember them as the ones jumping in on Jeff’s side of the “Toyota engine numbering is retarded/Nuh-uh, is not!” argument. By the way, “Yuh-huh, is too!” We all stood around in the heat for a bit then went inside. Another couple, in a “Panda” AE-86 Toyota Corolla, showed up and joined us. After we all ate we went back out and looked at their car for a bit. The truck dude asked me if I'd take the latest chick for a ride in The Seven. “Pshyeah!” I said. We went for a quick hoon and then I dropped her off. Rather than get out again, I headed home. I got a text reply from John Monday morning apologizing for missing the event, then found his Sunday afternoon reply to the e-mail after I got to work. It said, basically, that he would be willing to drive one of the cars to the event. Oops. Oh well. So, that’s about all there is to that. I won't be able to bring Lil' Wiggly to any more events because Gregg is supposed to pick it up next weekend. That is, unless I convince him the Chickenhawk is a better choice for a race car. I suppose I could try to get him to bring it to next month’s event. We'll see.
