OK, so I'm thinking of being dumb again. Actually, I've already made a move on being dumb again. So, you know I already have Saigas in 12 gauge and 7.62x39 right? Well, I'm thinking I want one in .223 and .308 as well. To that end, I have already purchased a set of wood furniture to mount on a .308 and a pistol grip for the 12 gauge so I can mount the collapsible stock it has now on a .223 Saiga. “Wait a damn minute,” I hear someone saying. “Didn’t you have a .308 Saiga back in October or November?” Well, yes. Yes I did. I sold it because I wasn't sure I'd be able to actually shoot a Bambi when I went hunting with my brother-in-law Lester and wanted to totally remove the temptation to take a shot. Also, I couldn't find any wood furniture for it and didn't want a “tactical” hunting rifle. Now that I have found some wood furniture, I want another one. Oh, and the one I had was used, I'd like a new one this time. Yeah, I'm that superficial. So, at the next gun show I'll be shopping for .223 or .308 Saigas. What I'll plan to do is, depending on how much money I have with me, buy whichever I find cheaper, or at all as the case may be. Of course if I have enough money, and I find both cheap enough, I might just buy them both. BATFE be damned. Ooh, I'll be put on a list for buying more than one “Assault Rifle” at one time. Then again, I might find them at different vendors. How about that Mr. Man? What are you going to do then? Hmm? I ain’t skeert. “OK,” you ask, “What if you find both for the same price but you only have enough to buy one?” Ah, I have that scenario planned for as well. If I find both for the same price, but I can only afford one of them, I'll buy the .308 they are both “long barrel” models. I’ll buy the .223 if they both have the “shorter barrels.” If the .308 is “short” and the .223 is “long”... hmm, I might walk away because I really want the .308 with the “longer” barrel and the .223 with the “shorter” barrel. Why? Because that’s what I want, that’s why. Now, having said all of this, I have kept some sanity in my shopping. I've been looking at scopes for the .308 since it will be more of a sporting/hunting arm. I found a few but have not bought one. That’s not to say I won't buy one soon, but I've resisted so far. OK, enough gun talk. let’s talk motorcycles. My choke cable came in yesterday. I may plan to install it on the bike tomorrow instead of jumping right in on Lil' Wiggly again. I shouldn't do that though. I should set it aside and get back to work on the car. Of course we all know that isn't how it is going to pan out. At best, John will take the cable from me and install it while I get back to work on Lil' Wiggly. I'm not asking him to do that! That was not me being passive/aggressive in trying to get him to do that. I'm saying that if Juan were to look at all the possible ways work could be done tomorrow, my junk wise, John installing the cable while I work on Lil' Wiggly would be the... most efficient? But again, I'm not saying that is how I want things to happen. If Bobbi doesn't get her choke cable tomorrow it ain't the end of the world. I guess it will depend on whether or not John rides his bike to the shop. I'm not sure why that would matter, but it might. Hmm, it may have bee a Freudian slip but I just noticed I left out the “not” in the sentence beginning “But again,”. I went back and put it in rather than leave it as another possible not-so-subtle P/A suggestion to John. I guess the more times I say that is not what I meant, the less believable it is. It’s one of those “Methinks he doth protest too much” situations. But seriously, if John has ANYTHING else he wants to work on, I DO NOT intend for him to install the choke cable. In fact, fuck it, I'm not even going to bring it to the shop. How about that? How passive/aggressive am I being now? Yeah, that’ll learn ‘em. So, after we install the choke cable on Bobbi tomorrow, I guess we’ll get to work on Lil' Wiggly. I'd like to get the fuel pump on and enough of the engine wiring and plumbing reconnected to try and fire the bastard up. I know we won't have the dash done, but it is remotely possible to make the thing run tomorrow. Perhaps if it does, I'll be inspired to come back and sweat my ass off finishing up the dash. I don't know, we’ll see. You may have noticed that I still haven’t mentioned the license and registration for Bobbi. It still hasn’t arrived. I've got two more weeks before the next Japanese Old School event at FreeBird’s so it is still a remote possibility I could have it legal in time for that. Of course if Lil' Wiggly is back on the road, I'd like to take it there. I suppose I could ask someone to drive it over for me. But if I'm having someone drive one of my cars over, I otter get two people and have The Seven driven over as well. OK, I need to get a shop somewhere somewhat convenient for everyone so we can have these events there. Then I could have all my vehicles at the events all the time. Yeah, like that’s going to happen. Oh well. Hey, did I mention The Sevens tour thingy Phil Anderson is putting together for October? Well, Phil Anderson is putting together this Sevens tour thingy out in east Texas in late October. He’s set us up with a hotel in the area and I've already booked my room. I've asked for the time off work but haven’t heard back about it. Perhaps it is still a bit early for them to schedule it, but I wanted to be on record as asking for those days off well in advance. I've invited John, and we’re supposed to discuss it tomorrow. We'll see I guess. Well, I've got to go pee and it is just about lunch time so I'm going to call it a rant. I'll talk to y'all again Monday.
