9/20/2011

OK, when we last left our intrepid heroes, they had parted ways on Saturday evening. My sister was to be in town to spend the night so she could cater some breakfast thing at the church. I fully expected to get home and hear, “Where have YOU been?” from her and mom. Neither of them was home. I called the church and, sure enough, they were there. They didn't ask me to come up and help so I didn't. I did, however, find that the new water cooler I had just bought had leaked three more gallons of water over the course of the day. I. Was. Pissed. When they finally got home I told my sister about the cooler before mom could find it and had her tell mom. I was too fucking mad about it to be rational and calm in the telling and it just would have upset her. As it turned out, Linda broke the news and mom appeared to take it in stride. In the morning they both left for church telling me to come along later and bring stuff if they called for it. I got to the church around 0830 h and helped with the breakfast. I helped clean up afterward while mom was in Sunday school and then Linda and I convinced her that she needed to go home and rest rather than stay for church. She acquiesced and took off to the house. There we all took naps and eventually all got up around 1600 h. I was thinking of going to a hardware store because I had a revelation. “What if,” thought I, “I were to take one of those dryer vent hood thingies you see on the side of houses and attach it to the side of The Seven as a scoop to force cool air in on my legs?” I sent John a text asking his opinion and he thought it might work. I got dressed and was about to leave when I was told we were going for Mexican food. “Meh, whatever,” I thought and that’s what we did. After I dropped mom off at the house, I did go to the hardware store. I couldn't find the vent I was looking for but did see something that might work. They are little 3” diameter louvered soffit vent covers. I didn't buy them though. I'm not sure if they will “cheese grate” the air into the foot wells or not. John suggested Ford Mustang vents as an option so I headed to the shop to have a look at some I knew were there. I took the long way to the shop. Yes, I went for a hoon. I'm beginning to get used to the size of Fiona but I'm still not quite comfortable wicking up the speed. Eventually I get to the shop and have a look at the Mustang vent. I don't think it will work. I think it will be all or nothing once wind hits the vanes of the vent. John also sent me a link to an e-Bay auction for a little hood scoop. I went ahead and bought one of them because that will probably be the best item for this job. Then again, I might go back to the soffit vents. I don't know. Well, I'm just about bored talking to y'all so I'm going to stop.
