So on Tuesday the 27th mom and I went mattress shopping. Mine was plumb wore the fuck out. Ok, anyone who knows me knows it wasn’t actually fucking what wore it out, but we won't go into all that. We first went to Mattress Firm but they weren’t open yet. Next we went to Mattress Giant and had a look at their offerings. I laid down on a few and was completely “Meh” on them all. Some felt like they might be more comfortable… but who the hell knows? We went back to Mattress Firm just as the guy opened the door. We looked at a few and again I was “Meh” about them. Mom had me try one that was on sale. It was maybe a “Meh plus” so we bought it. They would have it at the store Thursday or they could deliver it and take the old one away for $75.00 more. We asked if we could pick it up Saturday and were told we could. Then we went to lunch somewhere and did something else that she wanted to do. Or was it the other way round? Yes, it was the other way round because we commented that we’d accomplished so much and it was still only 1100 h before we ate. After dropping her off at home, I took mom’s car to see about having the satellite radio installed. See, when the Hyundai’s satellite radio needed to be renewed, they talked me into a receiver for mom’s car. I gave it to her for Christmas. I eventually found a place willing to install it but they couldn’t get to it then. I needed to come back in the morning. I'm not sure what I did after that… nothing important I'm sure. The next morning, Wednesday the 28th, I did go back and hung out for a while waiting for the installer to show up. He and I talked about the thing and he fingered out all the stuff he was going to need. They didn’t have something in stock. They ordered the part and said they would call Thursday when it arrived and would install it then. I'm not sure what I did the rest of that day either. One of the days I came up to the railroad and hung out with Larry then we went to Taco Casa for lunch. The other day, the one where I didn’t dine with Larry, I took Monty to the range to try out the new compensator. The gun worked fine for a while then began to fail to return to battery. I had to smack the back of the slide to get it to go completely forward. I unloaded it and racked the slide a few times. It seemed a bit “crunchy.” I took it out to see if they had any oil I could spritz on it. They did so I did. It was much smoother to rack after that. I took it back in and it worked flawlessly. The grouping was nice but it consistently shot high and to the left. Let’s say, just enough to rip through the aorta if I aimed at the lower left ventricle… were I to shoot someone with it… which I “hope” I never have to do. Wink wink. Ok, I'm not really hoping to shoot someone with it, even though there are plenty of people out there who need a good killin’. So I burned up the ammo I had and then wiped the gun down. I took it home and cleaned and oiled it. I took out the rest of the guns and oiled them too. Thursday the 29th I eventually got the call from the installer and took mom’s car in. They installed the satellite radio and I played with it for a bit on the way home. Of course it didn’t work. I still had to go through the hassle of activating it. Speaking of people who need a good killin’. Anyhoo, it eventually began working and I programmed a few stations from memory. I printed out the channel listing and made a note card to keep in the car. I went out and programmed all the stations. Friday morning mom and I took off to Waco to do the annual Christmas visit with the Austin branch of the family. We listened to mom’s new satellite radio all the way down and back. She seemed happy with it. In Waco, we dined with my brother and his family as well as my sister who showed up somewhat out of the blue. Eventually we headed home. Saturday it was arranged that I would pick John up in Fifi so he could take some wheels and tires to the shop. This we did. We ate at the same breakfast place, which is rapidly becoming our Saturday morning thing, then went to the shop. John hung his wheels on his 1200 and they look totally super awesome. We installed and wired the gauges in Lil' Wiggly's new dash but stopped short of actually installing it. It was approaching noon and I knew installing it would mean testing it, and if it didn’t work, fixing it. We took off to get my new mattress. John pretty much did all the heavy, and light for that matter, lifting and we got it delivered and installed. Then we hopped in Fiona and went back to his side of town where we had sushi for lunch. So now we’re up to Sunday, but I'll save that and Monday for tomorrow.
