3/5/12
Hoary clap! That was a rough weekend. The adverse reaction to the pneumonia vaccine only got worse after I finished the rant. I wound up going home at 1500 h. By Saturday morning I was achy all over and had a fever with severe chills. There was a really thin dude in a black cape with some sort of farming implement on the front porch, but mom wouldn’t let him in. It might have been a scythe now that I think about it. Anyhoo, I would have given anything to feel as good as hammered dog shit when I got up at about noon. By evening I was wearing sweat pants under my normal lounging pants and a sweat shirt over a long sleeved T-shirt. I managed to keep just warm enough to not shiver with chills, but the sweat soaked backs of the clothes betrayed me every time I stood up. I'd shiver all the way to the bathroom, or wherever I needed to go, and all the way back to the chair. Once I was insulated and not radiating my body heat as bad, I stopped. When I gave up and went to bed I had a hard time undressing knowing the chill would be worse than ever. Once I got the bed warm I managed to get some sleep… for about an hour. The body aches made me want to roll over. Of course that meant lying on the shoulder where the injection was made. That hurt pretty bad… and shuffling the bedcovers got me chilled again. I finally got to sleep on that side… for about an hour. I rolled over again and was chilled again. Then, in about an hour, I had to go pee. Imagine reaching into the bottom of an ice-chest for that really cold beer at the bottom. Know that feeling? Ok, it wasn’t that bad… but I was cold, and I got chilled again. Back in bed for another hour or so and I awoke at around 0100 h to an odd feeling. Well, not really an odd feeling, but odd for the previous 36 hours. I was hot. I tossed back one blanket and tried to go back to sleep. No, my head hurt from too much sleeping. I decided to get up and watch some TV. I put on the lounging pants and long sleeved T-shirt, without the sweats, and went downstairs. I channel surfed until about 0215 h then went back to bed. Imagine diving into that ice chest from the earlier example. Ok, yes the bed was sweaty, and yes, said sweat had gotten cold, but I guess it really wasn’t that bad. At least I didn’t shiver uncontrollably like I had been doing. “Methinks yon fever hath broken,” thought I. Apparently I become Shakespeare when I'm sick. I slept pretty well the rest of the night with only one blanket. In the morning, except for the pounding headache from dehydration, I felt much better. I took a shower then brushed my teeth and noticed that my gum didn’t hurt as bad as it did Friday either. Mom and I went to lunch after she got home from church, settling on The West Side Café after Applebee’s and Don Pablo’s were both too crowded. Of course WSC was crowded too but we suffered through it. Best. Chicken. Fried. Chicken. Ever. Ok, perhaps I was just hungry, I had lost… wait for it… seven and a half pounds since Friday morning! Of course, as dark as my pee still is, it might have been quite a bit of water weight. Wow, that’s almost a gallon. Anyhoo, after lunch I continued my “Prisoner” marathon on DVD. As it came close to time for the JNC car show at Freebird’s, which I had already decided I was not driving The Seven to, I sent John a text to see if he was going. He wasn’t. If he had, I might have taken Fiona just to attend. I continued the marathon. After about the fifth time seeing Number Six hoon his Lotus Seven though London in the opening credits, I sent John a text saying, “If I ever make noises about selling The Seven, just tell me to watch ‘The Prisoner’.” I swear, every time that car appeared, I wanted to go to the garage to make sure I really did have one just like… well, rather similar to it. It was a, “Holy crap! I actually have one of those!” moments. Of course his car sounds a lot better with the Cosworth twin cam motor sucking through a pair of Webers, but mine does right by me. I wonder if someone in Texas has the KAR-120C license plate yet. I think I'll call the rant complete for the day and go check. Be seeing you!
