Frerbruraryr 14, 2012

Happy VD. It’s a good thing I had most of this already written because I've got damned little time today. So, Sunday morning I headed to the shop when the guy called at 0730 h to say he was leaving. I rounded up all the parts for Nadine that I could find and got everything ready to go. Larry called. He was about to leave for the gun show so I said I'd call him when I was done with the car thing. It was still butt-assed butt-butt cold so I decided to wait in Fiona for the guy. While sitting there, I realized I should be waiting up by the gate. Within a minute of pulling up there, I saw a white Mitsubishi pickup pulling a trailer drive by. I called and asked if it was him. It was. I pulled out onto the road and led him to the RV waste dump by the park to turn around. Back at the shop we rolled John's B-210 out of the way and Nadine out to the trailer. We got it up and tied off then loaded up some more spares. I looked at the clock and saw I wasn’t going to be all that late meeting Larry after all and called him. He was in line so I said I'd be there as quick as I could. I changed clothes and headed to Will Rogers. The parking garage was full so I had to park across the street in the museum parking garage. I found Larry and we walked the show. Now, I have discovered that I can successfully conceal carry a full sized 1911 but the hammer pokes me in the side. I wanted to look for a rounded hammer… actually two rounded hammers as I have two 1911s. I found one for $50.00 and said I'd come back if I didn’t see any others. I found others. I bought a stainless one for $10.00 and then found black ones for $15.00 each. I bought them as well. I also bought some Girl Scout Cookies… Peanut Butter Patties to be exact. We took Fiona to Benito’s and had lunch then walked the second half of the show. Larry bought ammo and magazines but no guns. Eventually we took leave of each other and I went home to install my new hammers. I took Monty apart to install the hammer and found that I couldn’t quite get the last little pin out of the original hammer. I took it to the garage and finally knocked it out. Back upstairs, I installed the new hammer and reassembled the gun. As I feared, the hammer fouled the grip safety… just by a cunt-hair. I took the hammer back out and filed down the corner where the slide rides when fully cocked and reassembled it. It now just kisses the grip safety if I'm not holding the weapon. When I have a grip on it, there is daylight twixt the two. I oiled up the gun, after playing with it to make sure it was going to function properly, and moved on to Heldey LaMarr. Of course I forgot about the last little pin in the hammer while futzing with the other gun. I tried to replicate my actions in removing the first pin to no avail. I gave up for the time being and reassembled Heldey LaMarr. Then I thought, “I really otter carry the smaller gun when I conceal carry.” I took them both apart and put the new hammer in Heldey LaMarr and Heldey LaMarr's hammer in Monty. Then I realized the new hammer’s trigger pull SUCKED! I took it out again and filed on the sear. Back together and ooh yeah, that’s one nice trigger again. Well, that about wraps it up, and I have some folks coming to pick up a projector, so I'm going to call it a rant.
