5/22/12
Well, we just had the Asian Heritage Day event out in the courtyard. I set up the sound system, delegated its
operation to someone, came back and ran it for a little while, had some
bitchin’ Chicken Tikka Masala and curried vegetables, ran the board some more,
and then struck the equipment. I'm all
sweaty and stinky and my feet hurt like a bastard, but DAMN those Bollywood
dancers are friggin’ FINE! I've got the
“Asian Flu” something fierce for Indian chicks.
I sent John some pictures from my phone, maybe he can finger out how to
show them to y'all… I know I can't. So,
what now? Ok, I've got something. It isn’t anywhere near anything like even
“interesting-adjacent” but here goes.
Sorry, “interesting-adjacent” just made me laugh out loud. I even snorted. But I digress. Remember how I recently bought another
7.62x39 Saiga, installed wood furniture, a scope, and trigger group? Well, the fore arm of the furniture had an
annoying “clunk” where the front trunnion wasn’t as tight as it could be. It was annoying me… wait, I just said that
didn’t I? Ok, well I took the fore arm
off the other day and had a look at what I could do about it. I had an epiphany. I could insert some sticky-back Velcro tabs
to take up the slack. To make a short
story long, they worked and now the thing is rock solid. Me rikee rots. Of course I doubt I could ever pull the
trigger on a Bambi were I to get one in the crosshairs, but by Gumphrey I've
got me a hunting rifle! Sure, after the
fit hits the shan and I have to hunt for FOOD, I could possibly blast some
venison onto my dinner plate... I think.
Hopefully said fit will avoid all shans and we won't have to find
out. As for my tactical 7.62x39 rifle, I
think I'm going to buy some more 30 round magazines for it. I've got two now and six ten round magazines
shared with Woody. I think I might want
to delegate all the ten rounders to Woody and have about… oh, I don’t know,
eight thirty rounders for the tactical gun.
Why eight? Well, to be honest,
that was what fit in my “Weapon Inventory” spreadsheet. I'm going to be looking for those items at
the gun show on Sunday. Oh, John and I
will not be going to the show Saturday after all. I think he might have cooled on shopping for
a .22 pistol for the time being… or perhaps he’s just going to get one at
Academy. I don’t know. Alls I know is we’re going to the shop
Saturday and working on Lil' Wiggly.
Huzzah! We need to decide what
seats will be going back in there now that the carpet is out. I'm thinking possibly the ugly-assed blue
Boys of Pep specials I got from Gregg, especially if there is any chance this
car is being built to sell. Of course
the leather Saturn seats I took out would bolt right back in, more or less, and
work pretty well. I don’t know, we’ll
see. We’ll also be installing the
carburetor linkage and attempting to synch the carburetors I think. I'm afeared we might have to resort to
bending one or the other Heim jointed link thingies to get perfect
synchronization since they aren’t actually “turnbuckles.” We have rather limited fine tuning capability
with them. Of course, knowing me, gross
adjustment to “Meh, that’s close enough,” will be close enough for me. I'm not building it for that last ounce of
power or anything. In fact, had it not
been a case of “that nut is going to come loose synching them that way,” I
would have said, “Meh, that’s close enough,” with the ghetto link we had in
there before. So, what to say now? Nothing?
Well, I guess I'm done for today then.
Toodles.
