8/2/12

Hmm, I got nothin’… but I'm bored with solitaire right now and I don’t feel like hanging out in the shuttle van with Larry.  I suppose I could just wander around campus “inspecting projectors,” but I don’t feel like doing that either.  Let’s see, I guess we can talk about Saturday’s plan.  I'm supposed to buy a battery for Lil' Wiggly “on my way” to the shop Saturday morning.  I guess I otter do that tomorrow evening since none of the auto parts stores will be open when I head to the shop, now that I think about it.  The red steering wheel for Fiona has finally arrived, I believe, but I'm not sure if we’re going to install it before or after we have the Earnhardt on the side of the car fixed.  I finally called his insurance company and got the ball rolling on getting it done.  WHAT A MONUMENTAL PAIN IN THE ASS!  It is just about WORTH the $500.00 deductible to have GEICO do everything.  But the other company is in the loop now; we’ll see how it goes.  I'm sure my last nerve has not been tweaked yet on this ordeal.  But back to Saturday’s plan.  I guess, to remove the temptation to have John install the wheel while I'm changing the battery in Lil' Wiggly, I'll drive Fifi to the shop Saturday.  I will probably drive it to work tomorrow as well since mom is out of town and I can park Fiona behind her car for the next week or so.  I really need a driveway around to the back patio so I can park either Fifi or Lil' Wiggly back there without tearing up the yard.  Lil' Wiggly will do less damage, of course, but if we persist in having battery issues… well, I'll just sell the motherfucker at some point, to be honest.  That should be in the cards for it anyway once another “Tin Top” Datsun is up and running.  Yes, Lil' Wiggly IS really cool looking.  Yes, I really like it a lot.  Yes… um, I'm sure there are other arguments for keeping it.  But it really is superfluous in the grand scheme of things.  Well, we’ll see.  After Lil' Wiggly is out of the main bay, I think we’ll either roll George or the ‘Spit in there.  Actually, I might put forward the idea of moving “Timmy!” over to the main bay so “we” can make some progress on it.  “Timmy!” being John's 1200 of course.  That plan hinges on a) whether or not John really WANTS to make progress on it right now, and 2) whether or not he wants… um, well, anyone else spinning wrenches on his project.  Fuf, I just thought about how disinterested I am in working on my own projects in this heat, how will I feel about working on his?  As much as he’s done on my projects, in and out of the heat, I owe it to him to at least offer the main bay, even if I just “sit there and look pretty” while he does all the work.  I guess we’ll see.  Hmm, if we WERE to move “Timmy!” over to the main bay, we could roll George into that spot and work on them both.  I don’t need to get around the side of George as badly as John needs to get to the sides of “Timmy!”  Of course the danger of that plan is there will be a free spot outside for another “stray” to follow one of us home.  We do not need any more projects coming in to the shop.  Yes, I know I mentioned at least three others last week, but if you’ll remember, I prefaced it by saying that none of them would probably ever happen.  I think this is the best course of action.  We’ll move Lil' Wiggly to my house, “Timmy!” to the main bay, George to the “wall bay,” and ignore new projects.  If we get "Timmy!" and George finished, we can move on to the Chickenhawk and John's 210 race car.  I'm sure he has a name for it, but I don’t remember what it is.  If the previous owner was named Travis, it might be “Travesty” or something.  I don’t know.  That seems to ring a bell.  If we ever finish THOSE two, we can then move on to the ‘Spit and/or the Crossbow.  If those ever get done, Herman might actually get a reprieve and be allowed to return to the road as a “Slowster.”  Then again, Herman/Slowster might not be a bad post-Chickenhawk project as a “Shop Whore” and parts hauler sort of thing before moving on to the non-Datsun projects.  Or not, as the case may be.  Well, it is now about 1110 h so I guess I will go hang out with Larry until lunch time.  Toodles.
