I miss The Seven.
It’s weird, the car can sit in the garage for months and I don’t give it
a second thought, but move it across town where I can't get to it immediately
and all I want to do is take it out for a hoon.
Several times this last week I've been watching something on TV and
thought, “Man, I'd really like to go for a hoon in The Seven,” only to be
reminded that it is across town… and then I get bummed out. Oh well, what are you going to do? I'm sure John would have made the observation
that I could drive Fiona to the new shop, go for a hoon in The Seven, and then
drive Fiona back home had I not made said observation myself. He did suggest it the other day when I was
whining in text messages to him about wanting to hoon the thing. I guess… thing is, all my hooning roads are
on this side of town. I need to go find
some hoon-worthy roads out thattaway. In
fact, I came really close to doing just that yesterday… but wound up wasting
the whole day watching TV. As for
Saturday, I met Pat at Shoot Smart for our CHL renewal class at 0800 h. I wasn’t the last to arrive but there were no
parking places when I did get there.
When we were all accounted for, they took us into the range and had is
shoot our proficiency exams. Meh, I
passed but the hole in the center of the target was nowhere near as small as I
would have like for it to be. I didn’t
suck, per se, but I am not the crack shot I used to think I was. Ok, I never claimed to be a crack shot, but I
always felt I was better than I am currently shooting. I guess I'm getting old after all. After the first half of the class shot, the
second half did and then we returned to the classroom. Three and a half hours later we listened to a
group do an infomercial about a prepaid legal counsel service sort of thing…
which I signed up for. Yeah, chances are
I won't ever have to use the gun, but guess what; just drawing it can be a
misdemeanor which will cost a shit-ton of money to defend in court. I'm not in any position to pay legal fees to
get out of jail for defending myself.
Anyhoo, after we took the written test we were awarded our passing
papers and sent on our ways. Pat and I
ate sushi at the An Zen buffet down the road from the railroad and then I went
home. I thought about going to the shop
to hoon The Seven… but didn’t. Actually,
it was Saturday evening when John got tired of my whining about it and
suggested I just go do it. He didn’t
comment on my question as to the price of a taxi to take me to the shop. Meh, it probably wasn’t as funny to anyone
else but me. [ Actually, I never got that message? - SM ] Oh! I just remembered something else. When I got home from work Friday, my niece
from TCU was at the house to do laundry/get away from the roommate, and be
taken to dinner. Mom, Madeline, and I
went to El Fenix for Meskin food then hung out at the house for a while
afterwards. After a while, she finally
got tired of my company, I guess, and went back to the dorm. I wonder how long it will be before she comes
back again. Meh, whatever. So, I guess I've said all there is to say
about the past weekend. Maybe we’ll get
to work on Lil' Wiggly this Saturday. I
hope so. And on that note…
