I did nothing over the weekend. Saturday I went to breakfast with mom then literally did not leave the house for the next twenty-six hours. Sunday at noon I went to the church to a soiree for a couple moving to Oregon or Washington or something… mom wanted me there. After that was over, and I hung out with the little-old-ladies while they cleaned up, I went home and wasted most of the afternoon. I did go out for a couple hour hoon in Fiona though, so the day was not a total waste… well, I suppose hippies might consider driving around burning gasoline just to drive around and burn gasoline a waste, but fuck them. This morning I was told that the freeway was closed between White Settlement Road and Clifford due to (tee hee, I said "doo doo!") a fatality accident so I had to devise an alternate route to work. I took part of the new hooning course through White Settlement to avoid the freeway up to Silver Creek Road. I was only a few minutes late by taking the hoon roads. So, there’s all of that going on. As for the shop, I've been thinking about it again… well, not so much the shop itself, but the car menagerie. Here’s my dilemma, as long as I have a car project in the works, I'm neglecting maintenance on the running cars. The Seven, for instance, has needed new shocks and springs for years now. Have I done anything about it? No, I've thrown money at Lil' Wiggly, and bought a Mini… and whatever else I've wasted money on while knowing The Seven's shocks are dead. Oh, it could also use at least one new tire on the right front… and the carburetors really could be tuned better. So here’s what I'm thinking, pending John's approval of course, I should pick one or two “Keepers” and build the rest of my collection to sell. Then, in order to justify keeping the shop, we start doing exactly what the shop’s new name stands for: Driving Around Texas Saving Unloved Nissans. Although, we probably should make that “Nippons” rather than “Nissans” so we can save Toyotas, Subarus, Mazdas, Hondas, and any other Japanese cars we might scrounge up. Sort of become one of those “Car Flip” shops specializing in the Japanese iron. I just deleted a bunch of bullshit about getting picked up by one of the Discovery/Science/History/Velocity/Speed/OWN/Lifetime networks with a show about us. But that is exactly the kind of thing I'd like to do with my life… assuming we could make livings at it, sort of thing. Alas, I'm sure I'm going to stick to the status quo and build the cars I have as keepers and finger out a way to keep them when they are done. I imagine I'll wind up renting ANOTHER spot for storage of the cars as they get finished. Let me see, The Seven will stay at the house so I don’t really need to think about it. The Mini could go in the garage in front of The Seven if said garage were cleared out some more. That leaves me with parking spots for Lil' Wiggly, the Chickenhawk, and George… if I don’t count Fifi and the trailer… and the Spitfire. So, six spots are needed to store my cars. Fifi and the trailer can live at the house; in fact that is the current plan with regards to D.A.T.S.U.N. and those two. That leaves four keepers to park somewhere. If we finger each keeper car as needing eight feet by fifteen feet, a 16’x30’ spot would park four cars, two abreast (tee hee, I said a breast!), whereas a 10’x60’ spot would park them in line. I'm sure I'd have to split them up into two units though, assuming there is such a thing as a 10’x30’ spot. Feh, this is making my head hurt… and it is just about lunchtime. I think I'm done talking to y'all today. We’ll see what John has to say when he reads this tonight. Will he comment in the rant or just talk to me about it? We’ll see tomorrow
