As I mentioned yesterday, the brake stuff for the Mini did arrive and was successfully signed for. I took everything out, one bit at a time, and made sure everything was kosher. It seemed to be. Those brake rotors are so cute! If I lay my hand across one, fingers spread as wide as possible, the tips of my pinky and thumb just hang off the edge. I can't quite “palm” the rotor, but it is close. You know how calipers, even BIG calipers, usually look kind of small next to brake rotors? Not these! The calipers are almost as big as the rotors! I so very badly want to assemble one of the uprights and take it to Northern Tool & Supply to try it in one of those 10” wheel/tire combo units I want to run on this car. I'm sure, as wee as those rotors are, that they will fit… but I want to see for myself. I have got to fight the urge to stop working on Lil' Wiggly in favor of starting on the Mini. I think it will be possible, but it is going to be tough. Feh, I'm really having trouble thinking of stuff to talk about today. I guess we’ll go over the plans for tomorrow. John wants me to drag the trailer over so we can haul more stuff to the new shop in fewer trips. Damn it, he’s right. I've been trying to think of how I could justify not going after it, but there is no sound reason. I guess I'm going to make a run to the new shop this evening and drag the trailer home. So, in the morning we will meet up at Beenbroke at 0800 h and get cracking on sorting and disposing of stuff. The one item I can see in my mind that is going to be the hardest for me to say, “Trash that,” is the narrowed Toyota rear axle with disc brakes. I'm sure other things will pass before me and I'll have trouble shit-canning them, but THAT one I can see right now… in m’head! Do I have a use for it? No. Should I keep it? No. But it is a perfectly good axle, narrowed for a Spridget, and it has disc brakes. I don’t want to throw it away. So, there’s all of that going on. Since I've been away from the desk for the last… several hours, I'm going to call it a rant. I'll talk to y'all again on Monday.
