1/8/14
And we’re STILL
babysitting. I did not take the monitor
back to my desk so I'm talking to y'all from the NOC room where they are
installing the video conferencing stuff.
Sort of thing. I'm still not sure
if I should bitch too much about my job… and it really isn’t the JOB, but the
people who have been foist upon me. I'm
beginning to realize that some of them might actually be idiots. Remember yesterday when I mentioned the
cameras sticking 10” into the room?
Well, the Telecom Safety Officer got wind of it and came by the room for
an look see. Yeah, like I said, it ain't
gonna fly. They are going to install
some millwork so that the cameræ are sitting on a mantle sort of device. Of course until then they are going to put a
credenza of sorts in front of them to keep people away. We’ll see how well that goes. Today the music guy is playing The Moody
Blues “Days of Future Passed.” “Nights
in White Satin” is playing right now.
What a pretentious and self-righteous song! I really like it. Actually, the whole concept of “Concept
Albums” is pretty pretentious and self-righteous… and this one has turned out
to be no exception. I really like
it. I'm going to have to buy that on the
i-Tunes… as well as the Oingo Boingo from yesterday. No, I did not go to the i-Tunes last
night. Yes, I did forget. I suppose I could use the guest wireless here
at work and do it… but I don’t really want to.
Not to mention the payment would bounce when they tried to run my
card. So, what else is there to
say? Did I mention ordering a starter
and shifter stuff from Summit the other day?
Well, I'm still waiting for them to arrive. I'll probably try out the shift knob on Fiona
before committing it to Lil' Wiggly… and then buy another one if I like
it. Who knows, maybe I'll just put the
faded red ball from Fiona in Lil' Wiggly.
We’ll see. Oh man, now we’re on
to Quiet Riot! How old IS this guy? He looks like he’s maybe thirty… although,
now that I look at him a little closer, he might be a well-preserved mid-forties...
Ok, I got called away for a bit and that wound up being overnight. So, technically we’re now 1/9/14 but I'm not going to start a new “paragraph.” I see up above that I was talking about the new shift knob and stuff from Summit. Well, it all arrived yesterday. I went ahead and installed the Hurst pistol grip on Fiona before going to bed last night. I kind of like the way it works. It makes the lever a little longer so reverse is MUCH easier to engage than before. It seems to snick through the other gears better as well. Fifth to sixth is still a bit fiddly… but that shift always is. I need to gopher a hoon which involves a bunch of shifting to see if this car is a Sports Car or a Grand Tourer. I'm leaning towards GT but we’ll see. I didn’t look at the starter but it isn’t nearly as heavy as I expected… which makes me happy. And it is quite the small… which also makes me happy. I may have another bash at running the zorst over the cross member but with duals if they will make it past the starter. It will require some work to get the steering to clear and I think we will need to trim an superfluous tab off of the bell housing, but we’ll see. I never did get the cross member for the transmission installed like I said I was going to do last month… psh, last year! Perhaps we’ll do that Saturday. In fact, yeah we will so’s I can install my shifter and stuff. I wonder just how far from being finished we are on that project. Then again, I don’t really want to think about it all that much. In fact, I'm going to move on to other thoughts. Or, I'll just go do something else until I can think if something about which to talk. Yes, that is what I'll do. I’m back but just to say that I'm done talking to y'all today. So there.
