2/12/14

I watched “Inception” yesterday and have come to two conclusions.  1) I don’t like Leonardo DiCaprio.  I don’t hate him to the point where I want him off my planet, but I can totally do without him.  If he were to leave the planet, I would not mourn.  B) “Inception” is NOT the super-duper, be all and end all of ultra-cool everyone makes it out to be.  Also, it was not nearly as confusing and convoluted as all the internet simpletons act like it is.  Therefore, it makes me hate “The Matrix” even more for popularizing what I'm calling “the effects laden, twisty plot, mega flick.”  I will give it one thing over “The Matrix,” they didn’t do that retarded-ass “when you die in [the Matrix] [your dream], you die in real life.”  That was one of the dumbest plot holes in the whole “Matrix” travesty.  Don’t get me wrong, just having one thing better than “The Matrix” doesn’t mean I liked “Inception,” oh no, it was still crap.  Well, maybe not crap per se, but it did not live up to the hype.  And the whole “did the top stop spinning at the end?” question… who cares?  Just the fact that it was a movie, where one MUST jump right into a scene without all the interceding trivial interactions leading up to it means that there is no way for us, as outside observers, to know if it was “real” or a dream.  Technically yes, it was all a dream if Juan wants to get right down to it.  It was a dream in the heads of the writer and director.  So there.  And now, we move on to guns again.  The 16” barrel for the 10/22 arrived the other day.  It appears as though I was not as accurate with my measurements as I could have been.  It is still going to be about ¼” short with the flash hider threaded all the way down.  It came with one crush washer though… but it is still too short with that installed.  Using the barrel nut from the Tavor along with the crush washer, and leaving a wee gap behind said nut, I can get the requisite length.  However, I don’t want to weld the Tavor’s barrel nut to the 90/22, so another option has to be found.  I went on the e-Bay and found a five-pack of those crush washers and ordered them.  I figure a stack of those behind the flash hider will give me the length I need… and it otter look pretty cool too.  Those should arrive tomorrow or Friday.  I'll take the gun and new barrel to the shop with me Saturday and work on it after John and I break for lunch.  And speaking of lunch…
