While watching “Wheeler Dealers” the other night (Mk I Ford Escort), I came to
a realization… well, maybe more of a self-doubt-ization: I'm not sure I'm going
in the right direction with a V8 in Lil' Wiggly and a V6 in the Chickenhawk. Ok, if I consider Lil' Wiggly as a “flipper”
car, one which will be for sale soon after completion, a V8 might make it more
valuable. But I'm not sure a big motor
in the Chickenhawk is right for me. See,
Fiona, The Seven, and the two Versæ have taught me something. I'm happier driving a lower power car closer
to its limit than I am driving a higher power car… well, “like a pussy” if I am
to be honest. Call it “Channeling James
‘Captain Slow’ May.” Even though he’s
not dead. Sort of thing. Thing is, I'm beginning to think a strong
four cylinder in the Chickenhawk would make for something more to my
liking. I don’t want to go back to an
A-series, that’s too far down the “lower power” road, but I'm not sure I want
to put the Z-20 back in either. Ideally,
a KA-24 would be the way to go since I've always hated that we didn’t double
the displacement of the stock engine when we did the NAPS-Z. But I had that engine and was broke-assed
when I did that swap… and it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself. As I re-read all of this, and think about it
more and more, I'm beginning to convince myself that the Z-20 IS the way to
go. John is probably screaming at his
computer right now, or more likely dialing my phone number to scream at
ME! No, since I just sent him a text
asking the current destination of the Z-20, he’s being brought up to speed
already. Ok, the Z-20 question is
moo. It has been traded for… some
mystery item! I'm willing to wait for
the big reveal on Saturday but I think he’s about to… yes, call me. The Spit has an A-14 with very low mileage
now! Huzzah! We’ve also discussed the Chickenhawk
situation and I think we may have some tentative plans in mind. And now I must go across the street and
change a lamp so I am going to call it an rant and an day as well.
