9/2/10

I can't believe it is already [ September - SM ]... no, I'm not going to go there. So Monday I get a text from Pat asking if I want to join him for pasta at lunch. They go to this little place on Blue Mound Road called The Spaghetti House from time to time and I asked to be alerted the next time. See, there is this really hot Goth Chick waitressing there. Me rikee rots. Anyhoo, I said yes and asked what time. We set 1130 h to meet. I met him and we ate. He had mentioned the need for a four-door car on Saturday and I suggested he buy Ms. Clio. On Monday he wanted to know how much. I told him I'd look into it and let him know. He told me why he’s going to need a four-door but I don't know if I'm at liberty to divulge the information. Of course y'all have probably already fingered it out, but I'm still not going to be the one who lets the cat out of the bag. When I got back to the office I looked up the pay off amount and the Kelly Blue Book guesstimate on the car. They were comparable. I told him this and said I'd eat the last couple hundred of the loan and sell him the car for a round figure. He said he and Nora, his wife, would have to cipher and figger on it for a bit. They are going to Canada tomorrow so I doubt anything will come of this until they get back. So, with that car potentially up for sale I decided to swap into Fifi so as to not risk Ms. Clio on the roads. Not to mention, Ms. Clio is out of gas. I'm glad I did the swap too because it began to rain off an on yesterday and has rained all day today. Oh, have I mentioned the slicks on Ms. Clio do not like to be driven in the rain? Yeah, more reason to have her off the road while the deal is in negotiations. I did mention the car needs tires, and wheels too technically, to Pat while we were discussing it at The Spaghetti House. I'm not getting my hopes up, but an “extra” $350.00 in my wallet every month would be nice. I doubt it will go through though. But Juan never knows. OK, so a few years back John was approached by a film company to use his 510 in a movie about some defective ballet dancer, or something. He agreed and they paid for a paint job, nice move dude. He and I took the car to Houston for shooting and... well, there’s not much more to that tale. I mean there is, and it can be found somewhere in the archives of the rant, but I'm not going to go into it today. Anyhoo, the movie is out now in limited release. It is showing at The Angelika (I believe) in Not Texas. John suggested we go see it and have Tokyo One Sushi. I said that sounded like a good plan. I'm not sure if he means Saturday in lieu of the shop, Saturday evening, Sunday, or what. We'll see. OK, remember how I said I sent an e-mail to the guy from the gun show about a barrel for my Auto-5? Well, today I finally tried to call. I got a busy signal. That bums me out a bit. I really want to get an 18” barrel on that thing to finish out the tactical conversion I'm doing. On Tuesday, when I got paid, I went on line and bought a few other items for it. I got a BreaKO mercury filled recoil reducing magazine cap and a replacement friction ring to try and tame some of the recoil. I also bought a scope mount so I can put that holographic red dot sight thingy on there. I'll install all of that when they arrive, and maybe take the thing somewhere to try it out, but I really “need” that shorty barrel. I've got to keep my wits about me and refrain from chopping the existing barrel. OK, I just spoke to the guy and he has a barrel for me! I probably shouldn't have done it but I went ahead and bought it. It probably won't ship until Monday but he will try to get it out tomorrow if he can. Ooh, I'm as happy as a little girl! I will have to cut the thing as it is about 26” now. I think that is the same as the existing one but we’ll see. OK, so I guess I'm done here for today. I'll talk to y'all again tomorrow, maybe.
