10/1/10
Wow, October. Anyhoo, we were going to go to Eagle’s Canyon Raceway for a NASA race this weekend until Tony suggested the Good Guys Rod and Custom Car Show at Texas Motor Speedway. That sounded like much less driving and potentially more fun. When I found out General Admission for adults is $18.00, I knew John wouldn't go for that. I didn't really feel like paying that much to look at cars I only give a passing shit about either. So, John and I will be going to a British Car shop in Dalworthington Gardens (a “suburb” of Arlington) to see what Nadine's spare parts, and possibly Nadine herself, are worth. No, I have not put her up on e-Bay yet, perhaps once I “know” what she’s worth I will. I just had a look on them interwebs and found that the average asking price is just shy of $17,000.00 for a restored example. No, that does not help me in any way, but... shut up. So, I finger if I were to ask $5,000.00 for the basket case, I might get $3,500.00 or so. Hell, I might get the 5k, Juan never knows. OK, now is the time in the rant where I'm a douche. I wish Steve/John wanted it, he pretty much pays the asking price when buying things. See, that was a douchey thing to say. I admit that right up front. Oh well, what are you going to do? Oh, speaking of “speculative money,” the Chinaman from the church went and bought himself a Saturn... um, whatever that one that’s just a re-badged Opel/Vauxhall Astra. So what? Well, that means he won't be buying Ms. Clio from me. I'm still in that loan for another couple years. Bah and feh. Speaking of Ms. Clio, John and family came by the house the other night so the oldest boy could interview mom about what things were like when she was a kid. As they were leaving, I stood on the front porch to see them off. The blue Versa’s zorst sounds so much better than Ms. Clio’s that I'm thinking of having my center muffler removed. I had Steve/John remove the blue car’s center muffler back when I was driving it you see. It really helps the rort of the zorst. I want Ms. Clio to be a bit more rorty. I like a rorty zorst. Obviously I also like saying “rorty zorst.” It makes me feel Australian. Mmm, Olivia Neutron Bomb, there’s an Australian I'd like to feel. Ooh, and Elle McPherson! And... Rachel Hunter’s from down under isn't she? But I digress. So I'm thinking that after we drop the $100.00 510 at John's house... what? I haven’t told y'all about the $100.00 510? OK, so a few years ago John and I were rolling down Hulen when we saw a beat-assed 510 four door in the Luby’s parking lot. We swung back to have a look at it, as we are wont to do. John left a card on the windshield and got a call from the guy. Apparently he’s ready to pass it along to another owner and is only asking like $100.00 for it. I may be exaggerating that price, I'm not 100% sure. Anyhoo, John is going to buy it in the morning. The plan is for me to “swing by” his house and pick him up. We'll roll back to the south side of Fort Worth to get the 510 and then I'll follow him back to his house where we’ll drop it off. Yes, that sounds like I'm bitching about the mileage and extra driving I'm doing, but I don't mind, really. From his house we’ll head to the British car place in DWG. But I'm thinking if we’re early enough we might swing by Steve/John’s and have the center muffler removed from Ms. Clio on the way. We'll see. Well, I'm getting kind of sleepy so I think I'll shut my eyes for a bit. I doubt I'll have anything else to say to y'all when I wake up so I'm going to call it a rant. I'll let you know how the weekend went on Monday.
