9/10/10

Well, I had a chat with mom yesterday about the Boyd idea. She’s on board with, and even somewhat enthusiastic about, the idea of moving her into an apartment. She has friends and relatives, also of advanced age, living in apartment complexes which have amenities like a community cafeteria, and some form of assistance if needed. That is the kind of place we need to find for her. Hey look, there’s one right there by Ridgmar Mall near the church. Anyhoo, with that 900 pound gorilla addressed, we talked a little about the actual Boyd situation. She wants me to talk to my cousin-in-law, Doug, about the city of Boyd’s policies, restrictions, and requirements. I agree that that is probably the way to proceed. I guess I ought to give him a call and see when we can get together. I just erased a bit of backpedaling about building the shop next to the Burkett house. That place is not right for me. It is way too big for me and a cat, or two, or three... Yeah, I can see me becoming a “Crazy Cat Lady” if I'm not careful. But back to the reasons against the current house. Too big, got that one. I'd have to pare down the fleet to just one or two project cars because it wouldn't be fair to the neighbors having all those “dead” vehicles parked there. Yeah, yeah, it does make sense to pare down the fleet but... shut up! That’s what. Speaking of neighbors, I don't really have any interaction with them now so it’s not like I'd be giving up any “community.” Besides, they are all getting up there in age and will begin to be replaced by younger families. I don't like meeting new people. Psh, who am I kidding? I don't like people. But that is beside the point. OK, so it exactly coexistent with the point. In fact, it encompasses the point entirely, now that I think about it. Yeah, I need to take Mama Leone’s advice when she says, “Sonny, move out to the country.” Oh yeah, a Billy Joel reference. I went there. I totally went there. So, I guess I'll call Doug sometime and set up a meeting. Maybe John will want to go up and have a little reconnoiter of the site again. I'll ask. And on that note...
