10/5/10

Dang, I just noticed that 10/10/10 is a Sunday. I won't have a rant for that date. Poo. OK, so I've been giving guns and cars a lot of though the last few days, right? I think I've talked myself out of a 20” barrel 7.62x39 Saiga because the interwebs are telling me that the extra length doesn't help ballistics that much in that caliber. I've also talked myself out of one in .308 because the ammo is so much more expensive. Sure, it would be nice to have a tactical 7.62x39 rifle and one for hunting, but I think I can get by with just the one for the time being. Having said all of that, if I find a new .308 Saiga under $400.00 at the next gun show, I'll probably buy it. Also on the gun front, while I feel like I “need” a Magnum Judge, I'm not itching to run out and buy one right now. I will shop for them at this gun show but my “must buy it” cutoff price is $425.00 and my “wait for the next show” price is $450.00. So, if I find one under $425.00 I'll buy it, over $450.00 and I'll walk, between the two will be considered on a case by case basis. The the last show we went to, the best price was $430.00 or so. We'll see. I probably ought to set all of those cutoff prices lower, but I know me and I know that I'm just as likely to ignore them once the gun is in my hot little hands. As for cars, I've been giving the Lil' Wiggly situation some more thought as well. I really want that car back. I really couldn't care less about getting that hot rod A-14 back. I'm afeared I'm going to be “stuck with” it though. What I might propose to Gregg is a “team effort” build of Super Karate-Monkey Death Car into a race car. Since I'm going to be out the money for the suspension, brakes, seat(s), gauges, wiring, and all that kind of stuff anyway, if I let him supply the engine, transmission, wheels and tires (by not selling those items back to me right now), we could get that car on the track a lot sooner, possibly. Sure, a stripped, non-street legal car might get bumped to a higher class, but if it is just to go have fun with on track days, who cares? Besides, with that engine in a bare-bones 1200, the thing will FLY! It sounds like a no-brainer to me. We'll see though. OK, on to Nadine now. John's “new” 510 has me thinking patina again for Nadine. That sure would lower my “whelm” level. Of course it would not make Nadine (the lady) or my mom happy, but it might just be the catalyst needed to get the project going. Perhaps we’ll take a closer look at that Saturday. I don't know. We'll see. Well, that’s about all I've got for today.
