Bah and feh. I'm in kind of a funk about the whole car thing... again. I got a letter from the landlord at the shop saying they need all kinds of paperwork and stuff. It has me all grumpy. I'm just about ready to have a “Fire Sale” and get rid of all that crap out there. I mean, seriously, how many projects do I need wasting away? If I were to “cut my losses” and sell off all but The Seven, including all of the shop equipment I can't keep in my garage, I'd be pretty much set. I'd be bored out of my skull, but I'd have plenty of money. I don't know. I guess it is just that time of year when I start thinking “Cull the herd.” No, I really do need to get the hell out of that money pit of a shop. That much is a given. I've needed to do that for years actually. I guess I ort to get off my ass and call some steel building contractors and get some prices. Oh shit! I forgot I'm supposed to be in the Bored Room in fifteen minutes. Better go do that! OK, I'm back. So, where was I? Right, I think I'll call that builder from whom I got a quote fifteen years ago. Perhaps we’ll make an appointment to chat about a plan and stuff some time. I have asked Gregg to work on a bid for me, but I'm sure nothing will ever come of that. I guess I could ask Sam for a recommendation or quote for the job. Feh, I guess I'll call that guy in Boyd right quick and see if he has anything good to say. Hell, I'll actually be surprised if I get a hold of anyone out there at this time of day. We'll see. OK, so I just called and spoke to the builder’s... I guess we use the term “Administrative Assistant” now. She quoted me $45,768.00 for an insulated 60’x80’x14’8” steel building. Now, I understand that is the starting price and things are just going to go up from there, but that sounds doable to me. For a little perspective, I just went in and figured what that square footage would be in a dome. Remember I was thinking about doing a dome shop there for a while? Anyhoo, to get 4,800 square feet in a dome, Juan has to build it with an 80’ diameter. An 80’ dome costs $280,957.64 MORE THAN the 60’x80’ steel building, $326,725.64 just for the one dome! I think we’ll be going with steel thankyouverymuch. Hells bells, even adding a $30,000.00 mobile home next to the steel building doesn't crack 100K. Jimminy Christmas, I might come out LESS than the $110,000.00 quote from fifteen years ago! OK, I know it won't be less than that, but it doesn't look like it’ll be a lot more. Woo to the ever lovin’ hoo! This has improved my mood considerably. All right, with that news under my scalp, I think I'm going to call it a rant and a week. I'll talk to y'all again Monday.
