So I've been thinking I need to start reading again. More specifically, I've been thinking that I need to start reading Science Fiction again. The “Cthulhu Mythos” stories of H. P. Lovecraft have piqued my interest. I think I'm going to head over to Amazon dot com and order up a mess of books. OK, the reason I told y'all that was to see if “Cthulhu” was in the Open Office dot org dictionary. It isn't. I am still interested in reading it though, and will probably go order some books. I'll wait until I've paid off the stuff I just bought on e-Bay and such though. Don't want to bury myself in debt again. ‘Cuz that’s how it starts, ya know. I've already bought a few more items than I should have with the recently paid-off card. But what are you going to do? I don't know. So, cars. I think we’ll probably get the engine out of Lil' Wiggly this weekend and I can get cracking on cleaning up the engine bay. I'll also have a few weeks, probably, to finish up the dash and interior while we wait for the carburetors. I'm still torn as to whether or not I'm going to swap out the leather seats currently in the car for those blue “racing” seats I got when it came back from Gregg. If I remember correctly, those are “kidney squeezers” on a MoG. John had a set in a 510 once and we had to use a floor jack to spread the bolsters out to make them livable. Having said all of that, I think I'll leave the leather seats in there after all. I may take them out to remove the carpet, but they’ll go back in... probably. Yeah, now that I think about it, I'll also probably zook up that seat-back adjuster on the driver’s side so I can lose the support-rod thingy that is in there now. Although, that rod does look pretty cool, in my opinion. I don't know, we’ll see. Oh, duh! I just thought of how I'll reattach the pedals to the firewall. OK, let me back up. While getting everything disconnected the other day, I got to a point where I was waiting for John to finish what he was working on before we could go to lunch. I didn't want to crawl under the car again so I was pretty much done for the day. I decided to go ahead and remove the brake master cylinder booster again and have a look at how we could mount it. The adapter hoozis from a 510 that we were going to use a) disappeared and 2) didn't fit anyway so we decided to just drill new holes and mount the aluminum intermediary part directly to the firewall. This left us with the four mounting holes for the booster open and doing nothing. The thought was that we’d ram some carriage head bolts in there and hunker down on them to secure the pedal box, which is what is on the other side of the firewall held on by those same bolts. My thought just now was, “Why don't you cut off the back side of the booster to make a flat flange which will bolt to the firewall?” I'll go ahead and zook in the mounting bolts while I'm at it and bada-bing bada-bang bada-boom, we’ve got our adapter. I don't know why I didn't think of that before when Gregg had the booster out. Yeah I do, we thought the 510 part would work. I'll take a look at that while waiting for carburetors as well. Well, I have to go hold the hand of the railroad’s “Art Expert” across the street while she gets a meeting set up. I guess I've said enough for today.
