Frerbruraryr 7, 2012

Well, today would have been my father’s eighty fifth birthday. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone almost twenty years now. Hmm. So anyhoo, I got a text from the dude about Nadine last night. He asked what year was on the title. I had a look and found out something annoying. When she signed the title, she dated it AND put my name and address in the “Buyer” area. I'm going to have to go to the courthouse and transfer the title to me then sign it over to the other dude. What I'm going to do is try to just transfer the title without getting plates for it. Pat has done it in the past so I know it can be done. Hang on, I'm going to the intergoogles to see if I can finger out how that works. Well, I found out where on the intergoogles to look but the page is down for some reason. The good news is that I just found out vehicles over twenty five years old are exempt from the twenty working day deadline for title transfer. So, if I can convince the drones at the courthouse to transfer the title without registering it to a license plate, I'm golden. Of course I'm going to have to wait until after the 15th to do it because, as I mentioned yesterday, I'm broke-ass until then. In fact, if I have to buy tacos tonight I'm not eating lunch at work the rest of the week. Meh, missing a few lunches ain’t gonna kill me. What IS likely to kill me though is some potentially good news I heard. No, I'm not going to say what it is, not in writing at least, because I don’t want to screw it up. And that isn’t me being superstitious this time, if it were to be read by one or the other of the parties involved… well, it could go the opposite direction in a REALLY bad way. Or it might not, I don’t know actually. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see. So I moved Super Karate-Monkey Death-Car from the “Dead to Me” list back onto the DLR inventory today because John said he might NOT have a home for the Z-20 engine we took out of the Chickenhawk. If it is just going to sit there, we might as well build the faux rally car I've always wanted, even if it is just to turn around and sell it. Yes, I know I'll never make back the money I put into a car I build to sell, especially with my half-assed build quality, but I'll make more selling a runner than a hulk. Besides, isn’t it the build that we enjoy, more than the ownership in the end? Yeah, I'm not really buying that one either… but it is what I'm going to say to justify things from now on. And, not to worry, it is in line behind Lil' Wiggly, the Spit’, George, the Chickenhawk, and the N-600. I really should get George up and running before starting on the Spit’, but that A-14 head with a side draft manifold and header bolted to it are really working me up every time I'm at the shop now. I guess it doesn’t help that it is sitting on the roof of Lil' Wiggly either. It mocks me. Yes, I could move it, but… shut up. Well, it is now 1600 h so I guess I'll start wrapping up my affairs here for the day. I'll talk to y'all again… well, sometime.
