So
I never made it in here to talk to y'all yesterday, sue me. Here’s what went down Thursday the fourth and
Friday the fifth. I think I slept in
until 0600 h on Thursday. Mom and I made
lunch plans to try and eat at… um, that bistro on Magnolia down the road from
Benito’s right next to the vegan place full of hippies, I can't remember the
name right now. Anyhoo, they were not
open so we went back to Red Hot & Blue for a rack of ribs. After we ate we went back home where I took a
nap. I think I went for a long hoon in
Fiona in the mid to late afternoon, but I'm not 100% sure of that. Yeah, I think that is what I did. Anyhoo, I didn’t do anything in the evening
and was in bed at 2200 h or so. Friday I
got up and came to the railroad to test the War Room phone, as I am supposed to
do every day. I hung out with Larry
until 0830 h when I knew the 0800 call was finished and went back home. I know I went for a hoon “on the way”
home. Mom and I then went to the unnamed
bistro on Magnolia and ate. I think I
went to the shop to confirm that I had actually bought a Mini and have a look
round the place. Yep, it was still
there… and I HAD bought a Mini, which, by the way, I think I am going to start
calling Oliver Closehoff. I told y'all
about Saturday and Sunday already so there’s no point in rehashing that. So, moving on we will now disgust what John
and I are planning for this coming Saturday.
Since the tool box is at my house, and John has Fifi, he will pick me up
at my house first thing in the morning.
We’ll load the tool box into the back of Fifi and head to the shop. We’ll hook up the trailer and roll to the new
shop. We’ll drop Oliver Closehoff in the
“small” bay and the tool box in the “big” bay then go back for either his 1200
or Lil' Wiggly. We may load a few more
items in the back of Fifi for the second trip and we may not. We’ll see.
Once we have whichever car we chose to take first dropped in the “big”
bay, we’ll go back for the other. So,
what I'm trying to say is our plan is to move Lil' Wiggly, "Timmy!",
and Oliver Closehoff to the new shop Saturday.
I doubt we’ll be able to get much more than that done though. I imagine we’ll eat at Wasabi and then he’ll
drop me at my house. I'm not sure if I
told y'all about the last time I took the Saiga 12 Kushnapup to the range with
the “low recoil” ammo. The short version
is, “It still won't cycle the Fiocchi ‘low recoil’ ammo.” If I really leaned into the gun and hung on
super tight, it would cycle, but any relaxation and it would “stove pipe”
jam. My original thinking was, “Well, we
just won't ever load ‘low recoil’ ammo in the Saiga 12.” Then I started thinking, “That’s dumb! What if all you can find after the fecal
matter intercepts the rotating air-current induction device IS ‘low recoil’
ammo?” So, my new plan is to take a
selection of ammo back to the range once more and try to set the automatic
gas-plug to cycle the stuff. Once it
will run “low recoil” ammo, it should shoot anything. So, I think I might plan on another trip to
the range after John drops me off Saturday… unless I'm so pooped I can't manage
it, of course. Oh, speaking of
“courses,” when Larry bought whatever gun he bought at this last show, it came
with a free CHL class. Since he’s not
planning to take it, he gave it to me.
When, however, I went to sign up for it online, I couldn’t find a date
for their next class. Later that same
day, Monday I believe, Pat texted me to say that he is signed up for the August
17th morning class at Shoost Smart.
I went online and signed up for the same class. So… there’s that going on. Well, since I've been in meetings most of the
day, and haven’t had a chance to play solitaire, I'm going to burn the last
hour of the day doing that. Toodles.
