10/21/13

We’ve made another dent in the pile of crap that used to be Beenbroke.  And here is how that went down.  Friday after work, I went home and hopped in Fifi to retrieve the trailer.  I left the house at 1734 h after sending John a text saying, “If you meet me at the shop and help hook up the trailer, I'll let you buy my dinner.”  Needles to say, for that he did not go.  As I was unlocking the gate, he butt-dialed me.  I returned his call and noticed that Patrick’s truck was blocking the trailer.  I was just about to as John to call him when I realized the door was unlocked and the key was in the ignition.  I rushed John off the phone and got to work moving stuff and hooking up.  I re-parked his truck and locked up the gate, then headed home.  I backed the trailer down to the barricade and went inside.  I noticed that it was exactly one hour, 1834 h, after I'd left.  I texted John that “news.”  We agreed it was kooky.  Saturday I hopped in the Fifi/trailer rig and headed to Beenbroke.  There I began looking at shit and getting depressed again.  John arrived and we got stuck in to sorting what was to be kept and what was to be shit-canned.  Eventually John got tired of my snarky remarks and asked just how much of the ribbing was good-natured and how much was truly venomous.  I mumbled something about hypocrisy or something and we discussed it some.  I ‘splained that I felt he was being more cavalier about throwing away MY shit while turning right around and keeping something equally “useless” that belonged to him.  I finally admitted that the fact that I had a much larger share of shit there, exacerbated the issue and I think we’re cool… I think.  Anyhoo, I tried to tone down the sarcasm some when something was kept… but I did roll the shit out of my eyes every time!  Eventually we got the “Paint Booth” sorted down to “Everything in here goes!” and moved on to the main shop.  My junk guy called to say his alarm didn’t go off and he was running late.  I suggested to John that we go to the small bay and pick out everything we wanted to keep and leave Junky Von Junkington to clear that unit out while we made a trip to the new shop.  We sorted out the few items we wanted and closed the door… we didn’t LOCK the door, just closed it.  Back at the big shop, we cleared off the long table and got it ready to transport, along with the paint cabinet, hydraulic press, and fridge.  These we put on the trailer.  Eventually JVJ arrived and we showed him the small bay saying, “Everything in here… is now yours!”  He was amazed at some of the shit we had accumulated and was now throwing away.  Unfortunately for the plan, he showed up with just his wife, or equivalent Whiskey-Tango live-in female companion, so we had to help him load the stuff.  When his truck was suitably loaded down, we closed the door again and showed him the rest of the crap we were going to give to him.  He was shitting bricks at his good fortune.  As an aside, because I'll forget by the time it is appropriate in the narrative, he just called to say he could take the dead cars away as well.  I'm quite chuffed at that bit of news!  Ok, so where was I?  Right, we sent him on his way, giving him the gate code so he could come back for anything else he might want while we weren’t there, and headed to the new shop.  Just before crossing Hulen, John called to ask if I wanted to eat before we unloaded… the translation of that question being, “I want to go to Wasabi one last time.”  We went to Wasbi.  It was decided that him traipsing all the way the wrong way for him to Wasabi was no worse than me traipsing all the way the wrong way for me to Campo Verde so it was decided that once a month or so, we would still eat sushi after the shop.  Then we headed to the new shop to unload.  I was NOT looking forward to that chore.  Well, it turned out to not be as bad as I intended it to be.  No worse than a split infinitive.  Patrick helped out, which probably ‘splains a lot of it.  When we were done, it was decided that I'd come back for the trailer next Friday like I'd done this last Friday and we all went home.  I took a nice shower and wasted the rest of the day with my cat.  I think I'll save the i-Pod stories for tomorrow.  So, have a day.
