I'm sitting in a closet, no
jokes from the peanut gallery, waiting for my phone to take some charge before
I go to lunch. I've been across the
street in the TOB Conference center all morning learning how the touch panels
work to control the rooms. It seems
pretty straightforward… except that somehow “Management Meeting” means the
rooms are combined and “Simplified Audio” means the rooms are uncombined. We’re having the programmer make a change
there. Well, my alarm just went off
telling me that I have to go to the Viewing Gallery to hold someone’s hand
right quick. I think I'm going to take
the gamble of leaving the phone in this closet while I'm away. I hope no one needs me while that
happens. We’ll see. Ok, I'm back and it turns out someone DID
need me. There was an text massage
waiting. Oops. Well, fire me, see if I care. Anyhoo, that’s what I'm doing right now. Sunday, just as I was taking a nap, I got the
call from Winchester Gallery’s gunsmith saying my SKS was ready. I asked what time the closed and was told
1600 h. It was 1500 h at the time. Since I was groggy from pre-nap, and not
dressed, I said I'd come by sometime this week to get it. I cut out at 1600 h yesterday to do
that. That gun really needed the flash
hider on the end of the barrel. I didn’t
realize just how badly it did until it was on there. It looks so friggin’ cool now. In fact, it is so friggin’ cool that I'm
giving serious thought to trying to sell the Tavor. Sure, I offered it to Larry for… well, not
quite pennies on the dollar, but at a very good deal. Basically I offered it to him for about
$500.00 less than I have in the gun, optics, and magazines and then was going
to throw in 1,800 rounds of ammo. All in
all, it was at least a $1,000.00 savings on his part. He hesitated because he was pretty sure my
impetus was being pissed off about the job situation, which IS a contributing
factor, and would regret it as soon as the money was spent. He’s right about the regret, but I think with
a badass SKS and two Saiga bullpups, I'd get over it. Besides, the Tavor doesn’t fit in the gun
cabinet and it is a different caliber from everything else I own. Then again, it is really friggin’ cool
too. Well, here’s what I'm thinking,
I'll make Larry the offer again and if he doesn’t bite I'll offer it to
Yizhong… for quite a bit less of a discount, of course. For him the deal would be $3,500.00 and just
the ammo for free. I don’t know; it is
pretty friggin’ cool. Perhaps I won't
offer it up for sale. It would be nice
to have a gun in the same caliber as the locals… AKA the same as all those
monkey-spanks with their AR-15 style rifles.
I guess the smart thing to do would be buy a gun cabinet in which I
could store all of my stuff. They do
make one which is twice as deep as mine.
Then I could relegate the old case to ammo storage. Hmm, I think I might look into that. On another front, I may have mentioned
ordering tires for Fiona the other day.
Well, three of them arrived Tuesday and the fourth should be here this
afternoon. I think the plan will be to
get those mounted Saturday. I might go
to the shop as well and zook up that driver’s side down pipe too. Or I might go burn up some ammo. There is just no telling what I'm capable of
doing! Well, I think I'm going to call
it a rant and go have some lunch with Larry.
It is tortilla soup day at the railroad so I might have that. Anyhoo, I guess that is all for today. Toodles.
