3/5/14

Ok, obviously I DID forget to add the links to pictures for those explanations… my bad.  Also, the word should have been “quiet” rather than “quite” and I'm terribly amber-assed that I made such a rookie mistake… and didn’t catch it until after it was posted.  So, there’s all of that going on.  As for cars, guns, and stuff… um, well, I got nothin’.  I've been thinking about the L-16 going in the Chickenhawk and I think I'd be willing to use a 32/36 DGV Weber on one of those Offenhauser dual-plane manifolds if we were to find one.  George, the grumpy old fart rather than the car, had one at one time but I'm sure he wouldn’t part with it if it was still in his possession.  Also, I've lost his phone number since going from the Dingleberry to a dumb phone.  Maybe he reads this, and won't be too insulted by the “grumpy old fart” thing, and will give me a call some time.  Yeah, I'm going to hold my breath until THAT happens!  Anyhoo, I've also been thinking about the Chickenhawk's paint scheme.  I want to do a car in metallic purple, with “Bass Boat” levels of metal flake of course, but I'm not 100% sure the Chickenhawk is that car.  The Spit doesn’t seem like a good candidate either… but I CAN see it on the Mini.  Hmm, possibly.  I’ll discuss it with John sometime.  I can see the Chickenhawk with its original yellow top scheme but with purple sides.  In fact, that was a tentative plan all along.  Actually, there were two possibilities for the sides.  One was the aforementioned purple, and the other was to paint one side red and the other green in a Rastafarian homage motif… sort of thing.  I'm still in like with that idea.  Again, I'll have to bounce it off of John first.  Oh, I guess I just did.  We’ll see what he has to say about it.  The more I think about the Rasta look, the more I think I like it.  Of course the darker the green the better the bodywork has to be.  We’ll see.  I seem to remember John saying the bodywork was NOT as bad as he remembered so we might be in luck.  And I'm now out of stuff to say.  Perhaps I'll come back to talk to y'all later but don’t bet the mortgage on it.
