So last Wednesday I kept hearing about it being “Star Wars Day.” I understood the “Forth/Force” bit but kept wondering why the 4th of May should be “Star Wars Day.” Why wasn't the 4th of every month “Star Wars Day?” I mean, we’ve got Cinco de Mayo on Thursday, why jam another pointless “holiday” in there the day before. Then I heard someone actually say, “Star Wars Day, May the 4th be with you.” I felt a little dumb at that point. I got over it. OK, so now what? I don't know. It has been a crazy day here at the railroad. I've been running around all morning and afternoon. My dogs are barkin’ I gotta tell ya. Did I mention the Plantar Fasciitis? Apparently the reason my feet and legs hurt all the time is because I've got Plantar Fasciitis. PF is straining and irritation of the Plantar Fascia, the sheet of connective tissue on the bottom of the foot. It manifests itself as pain in the heel and is helped by stretching the foot and calf and/or arch support thingies in the shoes. I haven’t looked into the arch support thingies yet, but plan to in the near future. Everyone I've talked to about it says the orthotics, as the arch support thingies are called, are a near miracle cure. So, there’s that going on. Hmm, it looks like we’re making a deal with Dave Heeter for him to become the new owner of Barbecue Bob. We'll be putting an engine in it in the near future for him. I say “we” because it’ll be happening at my shop, but I'm not sure just how much I'm actually going to be pressed into service on the swap. John and Dave are taking a week of vacation sometime to get it done so after a little “heavy lifting” on a Saturday, I'm probably going to be out of the loop. We'll see. I'm a little torn, I hate to see the car go, but not as much as I hate seeing it waste away in back of the shop. Maybe it’ll inspire me to get some other projects going again. Hell, maybe getting some orthitics, and stop feeling like a damned cripple who can barely walk, stand, and get up and down off the floor, will inspire me to get some shit done down there. I know having a “clean” work area is going to help immensely. Wow, I actually spelled “immensely” right the first time. I'm as shocked as anyone. Anyhoo, hopefully the shop won't feel like such a burden this summer. We'll see. And on that note, I think I'll call it a rant for the day. “May the 4th be with you,” that is kinda funny.
