Well, it has been a while since we last spoke. Anyhoo, Wednesday I skipped work because I had a dentist appointment. I paid Jeff to cover for me all day while I ran around and did stuff. Said running around apparently aggravated my left foot. I began to limp by noon. I was visibly in pain walking by evening. That night, all hell broke loose in my heel. I could not put any weight on the foot at all. None. Fortunately mom has a walker thingy in the trunk of her car and my aunt has a pair of crutches. I hobbled to the bathroom and such with the walker until the crutches arrived. I called the railroad and told them my plight and it was decided that I'd cover things asbestos I could with the Dingleberry and hope I didn’t leave anyone hanging. Turns out I did leave a couple people hanging. Oops, sorry. Anyhoo, that afternoon I went to see the walk-in nurse at my doctor’s office. She looked at it and said, “I dunno.” She sent for my doctor. He looked at it and said, “I dunno.” They took a blood sample to see if I had an infection or diabetes or something and prescribed the steroid Prednisone for the inflammation. Oh they also sent me to the hospital down the road for an X-ray. Back at the house I sat on my ass all afternoon hoping the pain would lessen. It didn’t. I took the first steroid Thursday evening and by bed time... no, I won't commit to any improvement that quickly. By morning however, I could actually put some weight on the foot. Granted, it was on the ball of the foot and I still needed the crutches, but I could get around better. I still didn’t feel comfortable trying to go to work so I called the RR again. We went with the same plan as before. Yeah, I think I hung some more folks out that day as well. One of the folks I know I left swinging was the guy in charge of the Family Day car show. I had sent him a message Thursday saying I probably wasn’t going to be bringing the car even if I did come to work, so I guess I didn’t leave him hanging, technically. I sat in bed playing with the computer all day Friday as well. I got the call from the doctor saying that the blood work came back normal and the X-ray showed nothing but some minor arthritis. We’re still not sure what’s going on in there. By Friday evening I could put my foot flat on the floor but it wouldn’t support me yet. I had ditched the crutches for a cane and tip-toe walking as well. Saturday morning, I could actually stand on the foot. I couldn’t walk on it, but I could stand. By Saturday evening, I could stand and walk on it. I kept the cane just in case. Sunday I was actually able to walk without the cane. I kept it though, again, just in case. It was decided that I would not attempt to drive The Seven to the first Sunday car show thingy. I took Fiona to the car wash and then installed the road wheel center cap decals. Oh, the shift ball had arrived as well and I installed it on Friday. It has a bit of a “Clown Nose” look to it, but I'm getting used to it. I like the way it shifts. Another thing I did to pass the time while laid up was to sign up for i-Tunes. I bought a bunch of music and loaded it to the phone. While I was getting the car washed and putting on the wheel decals, I fingered out how to use the i-Phone interface in the car. I think. At least I got it to work. I still need to fine tune it but it works. I drove Fiona to the office so I could check e-mail and see what I was supposed to do first thing this morning. I limped my way up the fifty stairs to my office without the cane, just to see if I could. When I was satisfied that I was “caught up” with work, I headed back to the car to go to the Japanese Classic Car thingy. I sent John a text asking if he wanted me to stop by and show him what all I had done with the car but didn’t hear from him until I was already at the location of the meet. I almost bailed when there were only two cars there and no one standing around. I noticed it was still early so I waited. When Tim arrived on his scooter, I got out to hang with him. A few more folks arrived and we all chatted for a bit. Eventually we went in for burritos and ate them on the porch. A few more folks arrived and we looked at their cars then I went home. Oh! I just remembered something else! One of the things I did while running around on Wednesday was to pick up my Korean grille from the post office. I dropped it off at John's so he could paint it then we were going to install it Saturday. You’ll notice we didn’t install it Saturday. He was playing golf with his brother and I was laid up. We’re planning to try and put it in tomorrow evening. I hope we can because the ugly-assed US spec grille is the only thing with the Hyundai emblem left on the outside of the car. So, that gets y’all caught up with my life. Hope you enjoyed it.
