Yesterday I had a dentist appointment at 0800
h. I came in to the railroad and did the
War Room phone test which I have to do every morning before 0730 h and then fed
the cats. Oh, there are two cats living
in the shrubs outside the Marketing building.
Some of us take turns feeding them.
This was my week… well, it was Debbie’s week but she was going to be out
of… know what? It doesn’t matter. I came in to work, did some stuff, and then
went to the dentist. That’s what I'm
trying to get across. Wait, I need to
back up a little. Wednesday night I went
ahead and tried to let the new Dingleberry download the software update it has
been nagging me about for a while. It
said to leave the thing connected to a power supply until the download was complete. I left it on the charger all night. Yeah, when I got up Thursday it said,
“Download was unsuccessful.” That pissed
me off. I decided I was through with
“smart” phones. I was planning to swing
by the AT&T store on the way back from the dentist and trade the damned
thing in. As I was tooling up I-35 I
mellowed a little bit and began to wonder if it was really going to be worth
the effort. When I took the Western Center
exit I simultaneously decided it wasn’t and remembered that I'd forgotten the
box with the charger and all the accoutrements anyway. So I've still got a Dingleberry Q10 for the
moment. I don’t hate the thing… but I
sure as hell don’t like it either. I'm
tolerating it I guess. I would have to
say that I'm getting less and less enamored with technology in general. Everything has all these bullshit features,
and apps, and gizmos, and gee-gaws nowadays… I don’t want any of them. It fucking annoys the ever living shit out of
me when these kids talk about all this bullshit on their phones, and computers,
and tablets, and… what the fuck ever else there is out there. I've just erased a huge rant about technology
which somehow devolved into one about communism and socialism. Well, I'm bored with talking to y'all so I'm
going to call it a week. I'll let y'all
know how the shop move went on Monday.
