10/24/13

The Triumph guy has backed out on buying the Spit.  I think I'm going to plan on keeping it.  Now I need to decide whether I'm going to spend big money on the Mini, spend small money on the Mini, or sell the Mini for sort of medium-sized money.  Of course, having said that I took a look around to see what it would cost to rebuild the “stock” Mini motor and it isn’t as cheap as Juan would like it to be.  It would still come out cheaper than the full Monty Honduh swap I'm looking at (I wouldn’t be upgrading the suspension as much if I stuck with the “stock” motor), but it would still be a pretty spendy proposition.  I'm beginning to think that as cool as having a Mini would be, selling it off for a minimal loss and building the Spit makes a little more sense.  Oh sure, Juan could point out that I almost made a 300% ROI by selling the Spit, and could probably still get that amount if I were willing to advertise it, but we’re only talking $300.00 here… I think I can get my money back out of the Mini and put $2,500.00 in my pocket.  Besides, and this might be a bigger talking point, if I don’t “need” to sell Lil' Wiggly to finance the Mini… well, I could keep Lil' Wiggly!  At least I could keep Lil' Wiggly until the Chickenhawk is going and then decide if I “need” two tin-top Datsuns.  Hmm, if I have two open top LBCs, two tin-top Japanese Coupés doesn’t seem unreasonable.  “Justify much?” I hear someone saying.  Well… shut up.  Oh, another feather in the cap of not doing the Honduh powered Mini in favor of the A-14 powered Spit would be that I'm keeping myself loyal to the Datsun engine theme.  Hmm, I wonder if we could stuff a Nissan SR-20 from a Sentra SE-R in the Mini.  No, the whole point of the modern engine swap was the fact that Mini Mania makes a kit to do it.  Oh, then there’s the fact that Lil' Wiggly doesn’t have a Nissan/Datsun engine anymore either.  I forgot about that.  Ok, forget I even mentioned that bit.  So, since I have to go do work like stuff, I'm going to call this one a rant.  I'll probably talk to y'all again tomorrow.
