10/31/13

Obviously I haven’t had anything to say all week… except for Monday of course.  Tuesday I actually was babysitting a tech in the Executive Conference Room almost all day.  Yesterday… well, I just didn’t have anything to say.  I finger I otter say something as this is the last day of the month.  So, what can we discuss today?  I want to say I'm excited about the Spit being next in line, but I don’t want it to cut in line ahead of finishing Lil' Wiggly.  We’ve got to knuckle down and get that project back on the road.  Again, that is the “Royal ‘We’” I'm using.  I shouldn’t expect John to continue to abandon his project, "Timmy!"  What I need to do is shoo him away when he tries to work on Lil' Wiggly with me.  Sure, I'll let him help when I need help, but this ain’t my first rodeo, I can do stuff on my own.  Ok, now it sounds like I don’t appreciate his help.  I do.  And I don’t mind when he takes tools out of my hand… usually.  But he has his own stagnant project I'd like to see get finished if for no other reason than he’ll then have something to drive to the JNC meets every month.  Speaking of which, that would be this Saturday.  I wonder if I'm going to be the only one in attendance again this month.  If the weather stays shitty I'm going to go in Fiona again.  Oh, I just remembered a story I need to tell.  Monday evening, just as I pulled into the driveway, my phone rang.  It was mom.  She and Bruce were in Corsicana, or Sherman, or Lampasas, or some other little Podunk town in east Texas returning from Florida.  They had the bright idea that, since they had to stop at my nephew’s house in Arlington to drop off the grand kid/great grand kid, I should drive Bruce’s truck out there to save him a couple hours of backtracking.  I agreed that I would and asked for the address.  I went inside and looked it up on the intergoogles.  I headed out that way but since I am indifferent to hanging out with my nephew and his kids, but can't stand his wife, I would just drive by and see if mom and Bruce had arrived yet.  They had not.  I drove back to a park and waited for them to drive by.  At 1850 h I said to myself, “I'll head back by at 1900 h.”  At 1900 h I said to myself, “I'll head back at 1910 h.”  At 1910 h mom called to say that they were at John's.  They must have taken a different route because I never saw them pass.  I went back to their house and swapped cars with Bruce.  I had to go inside for a moment and eventually mom and I left in her car.  Neither of us had eaten since lunch so we stopped at Saltgrass for dinner.  Oh, quick backtrack, I mentioned taking the 510 title to the facility folks at Beenbroke on Sunday, right?  Well, I also went for an extended hoon in Fiona beforehand and ate a steak at Saltgrass afterward.  Ok, so that wasn’t as necessary a backtrack as I thought it might be.  Disregard.  While mom and I are eating, my sister texts me to ask if we’re home yet.  I tell her no and she asks where and with whom are we eating.  I tell her and she says she’ll join us.  We’re about to finish up and she far enough away that it is going to be a pain in the ass so she says she’ll meet us at the house.  She goes on to say she has my birthday present.  At the house, she eventually shows up with, low and behold, an Hello Kitty mini-fridge!  It is so pink!  I texted John to tell him and now we’re wondering what we’re going to do with the old fridge at the shop.  We’ll finger it out, I'm sure.  Speaking of the shop, John suggested that this week we meet early and do a little organizing and stuff and call it a day around 0900 h or something.  I'm not sure what we’ll get done in such a short time frame, but I'm up for it.  We’ll see.  So, I've got Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over” stuck in my head.  Especially the line, “I’m towing my car, there’s a hole in the roof…” and it has me thinking about actually thinking about building a flat-bed tow truck thingy for our little cars.  I think I might go to Craigslist right quick and look for ambulances.  Why ambulances?  Well, they have the heavy duty (tee hee, I said "doody!") electrical and cooling systems that a more pedestrian box truck won't have.  And, how cool would it be to have an ambulance?  So, I'm off to the other computer to do that.  I may have something  for y'all tomorrow… and I may not.
