Almost as soon as I shut down the rant yesterday I remembered something I could
have told y'all. When I walked out the
front door to come to work yesterday I found a Hello Kitty tuque and birfday
card on the bench on the front porch. It
was from Amy and Sam Chambers. I took
the swag inside and then went to work.
About halfway to work I regretted chickening out on wearing the
tuque. It was warmer today so I didn’t
need... ok, I pussed out again. I'll
wear it to the shop in the morning… except we’re not going to the shop in the
morning. I just remembered that John has
some stuff he needs to do to the 610 at his house before the dude coming to buy
it arrives. We’re meeting there, working
on that for a bit, and then going to the shop.
The dude buying George is coming in the afternoon to do that transaction
as well. What I'm thinking is, I'll
build my tool cart while John works on the 610 and then we’ll go to the
shop. Oh yeah, after dinner last night,
a “meh” ribeye and equally “meh” shrimp enbrouchette at Saltgrass, I drug mom
to Harbor Fright so’s I could buy me a tool cart. We discussed this yesterday, remember? Anyhoo, we pulled up to the front door and
parked in the handicap spot. There was a
“fixie” bike out front which caught my eye.
It was pink. I said, “That is one
pink bike!” Mom grunted something in
acknowledgement and I got out of the car.
I went in and began to look for the cart. Fortunately, it was right there by the
register. I grokked the display unit and
said to the dude at the register, “I want one of those.” He found the appropriate box and I paid for
it. After dropping it in the trunk, mom
asked what I'd bought. I pointed at the
bike and said, “A pink bicycle.” She
didn’t believe me so I pointed out the cart I'd actually bought. At the house I tossed it in the back of Fifi
and went in to open the packages which had arrived. Oh yeah, the magazines and pouches I'd
ordered from Midway had arrived as well.
Man, I really did have stuff to tall y'all today! Anyhoo, I went to my room and unpacked the
six new STANAG magazines for the Hebrew Hammer then stuck them in the pouches
along with the six I already had. I'm
not sure how I'm going to link all the pouches together for battle, but
something will come to me… probably.
Speaking of preparing for battle, I also tethered the cover for the
optic to the gun with one of those Velcro cable management thingies. Now, all I have to do is pull the cover off
and it flops to the side but stays with the gun/optic to provide protection
when the fire-fight is over. I got the
idea from the gun show where the dealer selling the Tavor with factory optic
had zip-tied the cover to the cooling holes on the side of the gun. I was going to go with zip-ties but didn’t
have any at the house… and I think I like the Velcro thing better anyway. When I was done “playing with” the Hebrew
Hammer, I grabbed the Saiga 12 and flipped up its sights. A quick flick of the weapon up to the
shoulder and BAM the sights just lined right up. I'm quite pleased with how that project
turned out. I need to take it to the
range and sight them in now. Perhaps
that gun will go with me to the shop on Saturday. We’ll see.
There is another gun show this weekend so Larry and I will be doing that
Sunday. I'm thinking about looking for a
Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm. I've talked
about them before. It is a pistol
caliber carbine rifle which folds in half to make a tidy little package… they also
use Glock magazines so 30 round sticks are available! Of course a Kel-Tec KSG would be pretty
awesome as well… since I am now a “Bullpup Guy” I guess. The Sub2k is half the price of the KSG
though, and I've wanted one of them longer, so… well, we’ll see. I'm also shopping for the Meprolight MX3
magnifier to go along with the Meprolight M21 optic on the Hebrew Hammer. If I find one of those, a new gun is off the
table. There was a guy with Saiga 12 ten
round magazine pouches at the last show… well, he didn’t have them then or I
would have bought them then, but he said he’d bring them to the next show. I'll be on the lookout for him because I
really want a way to tote around my Saiga 12 magazines conveniently. Let’s see, what else will I be shopping
for? I can't think of anything right now
so I guess that’ll be about it. I'm also
about out of stuff to say so I think I'm going to call it a rant. I'll let y'all know how the weekend went down
on Monday. Toodles.
