I knew I shouldn’t have sent the link to the Hello Kitty Tavor. What should have been linked was a picture of
the flat top Tavor… the Hello Kitty Tavor probably should have been the first
picture. [ Or given me a head's up with what pic goes where... - SM ] But I'm not going to look at
this gift horse’s mouth too closely.
Spiderman has been posting these inane ramblings for me for so long now
that there is no way I can ever complain.
So, moving on… oh how I want to make a reference to the trucker show
from the seventies right about now. But
I won't. crap, I had something to say
when I started in here but my petty pitching about the Tavor pictures caused me
to lose my train of thought. Hang on a
moment… I'll think of it... Got it! John sent me a link to a B-210 in New
Braunfels which has me thinking about us doing a “Wheeler Dealer” car. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned the show
“Wheeler Dealers” before but it is a British DIY show about buying, fixing, and
selling old cars. I lurve it. I think John is a fan as well. Anyhoo, I'm thinking that if we can pick up
some classic Japanese tin, restovate it a little, and sell it on, the shop
might actually pay for itself. I doubt
we’d make much profit, but it could be good for a larff in between doing up our
projects. Hell’s kittens, John is
already doing it unintentionally… or perhaps it IS intentional. Hmm, I hadn’t thought of the “Keep Tim outta
my bizness” angle before. Meh,
waddayagonnado? So, there’s that going
on in m’head. And that actually was NOT
what I was going to talk about when I started this rant. I just remembered what the original impetus
for firing up the old processor of words was to be. A picture flashed up on the screen saver just
before I started. It was one of the
shots I took of Lil' Wiggly's rear axle as I was building the brakes for
it. I got to thinking about how I was on
vacation and working alone on that. We
are approaching a full year since I took my last vacation! It has been almost a year since we made any
real progress on that car. Sure, six
months were wasted worrying about moving shop… but still. I'm thinking that my next vacation (I put in
for the week before and the week of Thanksgiving) will be spent at the shop
working on Lil' Wiggly. I still have to
finish the wiring, “fix” the sagging motor mounts, and finger out the radiator
situation… and whatever else there is to do of course. Ok, I'm going to set myself another goal…
unless I already set this goal earlier when I set the goals for the Spit, the
Mini, and the Chickenhawk… I'm going to drive Lil' Wiggly on New Year’s Day,
2014. You know, weather permitting of
course. I mean, if it is snowing or some
shit I'm not going to drive a V8 B-210 for the first time. Sure, if we’ve got it going in mid-December
and have some confidence in the thing, I might putter around the block in it in
the snow on the first just to say I did it… oh, never mind. So, if John and I spend this Saturday, the
ninth, fixing up the shop some more, adding lights and shit like that, the
following Friday will be when my vacation, hopefully, starts and I can really
get down to work. The 15th
through the 27th (plus the 29th) gives me twelve days by
myself and two with John before (and one after) Thanksgiving Thursday on the 28th. Then John and I will have the 30th,
7th, 14th, and 28th to wrap things up. I didn’t include the 21st
onnacounta that’s John's birfday and I’m not sure if we’ll be doing the shop
that day. And all of those dates are
tentative as well, of course. Y’know, it
is remotely conceivable that I could have Lil' Wiggly going by the December 7th
Old School Japanese Car Show if I really bust ass while I'm alone with the
thing. I think I could possibly convince
John to swing by and check on me on his way home from work those days as well…
to make sure I haven’t killed myself somehow.
I think we’re in with a chance here.
It is an ambitious goal, but I can always fall back on New Year’s Day if
I fail. So, on that note, I think I'm
going to call it a rant for today and go fly a bombing mission over the Dresden
Porcelain Works. Toodle pip, and
cheerio!
